Not sure I knew about this for the time period. Is it a truth or did the writers just make it up?

That is Jeremy Clyde, from the folk duo Chad and Jeremy. Their biggest hit on this side of the pond was "A Summer Song", a no. 2 charter from 1964.

Another appearance from then-current music was Micky Dolenz from the Monkees, season 12 episode 23.

I always think of Chad & Jeremy together with Peter & Gordon when considering duos from the British Invasion. "A Summer Song" and "A World Without Love" are my respective favorites of theirs.

One of my favorite things about Jeremy's M3S episode as "Paul Drayton" is when he's welcomed by the tune to "God save the Queen" or whatever that's called, although I have to say Chip's attempt at U.K. lingo is a bit corny. I also like the girls' reaction to Paul/Jeremy and the involvement of Joan Vohs (Mrs. Jan Dearing) in this episode. It's not often that Joan is given much of anything to do in most appearances.

Stanley Livingston has mentioned in an interview that he learned in much later years that Fred MacMurray knew how to play the guitar very well. Yet he never offered to give Stan some pointers in all those years they worked together.
