Default Isn't it odd?

Is it just me or does anybody find it odd when the show mentions a certain time period, such as the year 2000. It was the future to them, but to us the year 2000 is already in the past. I just find that so freaky for some reason.

Okay...this really isn't related, but it is.

Anyway, in the movie The Running Man they are 30 years in the future...2017. That's only 15 years away. That is kind of a weird feeling.

That is so weird. It's funny how the years just seem to fly by so fast. When you're living them, they seem to go by so slow. Then 20 years from now, you realize it went by a lot faster than you thought they did.

Here, here. I can't believe I'm almost through 5 years of college. It seems like I just graduated high school. Yet like you say, it seems sooooo slow living through it.

Or how about "1984?" That really freaks you out.

I've got another one for you...again, not "Twilight Zone" related, but keeping with this topic...

I was a huge "Lost In Space" fan during it's original run...I think it started during the 1965-66 season...anyway, the show took place in 1997...and as an 8 year old in 1967, watching those episodes, 1997 seemed like it was about a million years away...I even remember thinking that maybe we WOULD be sending a family into space by that time...

I even remember figuring out that 1997 would be 15 years after I graduated from college! Man, talk about thinking something would NEVER get here...I remember writing out all the years I'd be "graduating" from each class in grade school, then jr. high, then high school, and then college...and thinking that "Wow, Lost in Space" is STILL 15 years after that! It's funny, I remember specifically referencing 1997 to Lost In Space...

In fact, in 1997, I remember mentioning to my folks that L.I.S. took place in 1997, and they remembered talking to me back then about how far away 1997 was (from 1967 or 68).

And looking back, I can remember it all like it was yesterday
Now if I could only remember where I left my car keys when I came home this evening...

Jenny, here's one you'll get. On "Star Trek" (TOS), weren't the Eugenics Wars, referred to in "Space Seed," supposed to have been fought in the late 1990s? Sorry, if it's O/T.
