Thumbs down I am permanently boycotting the Emmy Awards from this day forth

The fact that the worst television program in all of history can get an award for "Outstanding Comedy Series" makes me want to destroy things. If someone out there is looking for a professional Friends hater, I'm yours.

This poorly-written, unfunny, irritating show is worthy of the same award given to "I Love Lucy," "The Dick Van Dyke Show," "All in the Family," "M*A*S*H," "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "Cheers," "The Cosby Show," and "The Golden Girls?" I'd have given it to My Mother the Car before I gave it to this show. To think of the many true classics that Emmy passed over.

Well, all bets are off on the future of this country's popular culture.

OMG I know!!! Who cares if its their last season!! Im actually looking forward to it! I was also happy the Sopranos didnt make the deadline!! Not that I HATE these shows (although I NEVER watch them) its so sickening how much awards they get!! There are more shows than 6 Feet Under, West Wing and Friends! On a lighter note, my boy Conan did a SUPERB job.

lol- I'm another 'Friends' hater. My parents love this show. I still can't understand that one.

I was flipping through the channels and saw a commericial for Friends next and last season (hopefully) and I could've cried from joy.

I'm going to say this, but I'm sure I'll have some people disagree with me. Friends is gonna take it to a whole new level for typecasting. None of the actors or actresses did that many memorable movies, did they? People just might forget Adam West and Burt Ward for most typecast actors, because I think some of the "Friends" are going to be typecast beyond belief. jmo

Personally, if I was pulling in 20 million a year on a sitcom, being typecast for the rest of my life wouldn't really bother me that much...

At the risk of the wrath I am about to recieve from the "Friends" haters, I am glad they finally won the "Outstanding Comedy" award.
The show has been one of the funniest and creative shows of the past decade, and has kept NBC at the top of the comedy heap, when many thought the network would slide when "Seinfeld" left the air.

Sure, many will say they got the sentiment vote, becasue this may very well be their last season, but you don't get to be the number one comedy year after year on looks alone, you have to be funny.

Ooooooooooo TJL I have to agree with you! I thought the storyline with the Baby was good this year. Anyway..... they've never received an Emmy so it's about time. They do deserve it.

I can't believe that horrible Friends beat out that wonderful Everybody Loves Raymond Patricia Heaton should have won over Jennifer Aniston too.

I know a lot of people like Friends and I do respect that, but I think it's one of the worst TV shows ever. I have never found it funny or worth my time watching and I think the cast members are bad actors.

Exclamation Count me in as a Friends LOVER...

This show is awesome! I am GLAD it one and let me tell ya..Matt LeBlanc was robbed! Looks like Ramano's whining paid off.

I don't get why you guys hate it so much. The show is histerically funny...it tops the ratings....I just don't get the hatred for it...in fact I don't get the hatred for recent sitcoms that exists in this forum in general.

Guys...the old ones were great...but time marches on.

why does everyone hate Friends so much?

I'm glad it finally won a real Emmy, as opposed to overrated crap like Everybody Loves Raymond winning yet again. Granted, I was pulling for Sex And The City and Sarah Jessica Parker to win, but I can settle for Friends and Jennifer Aniston.

I'm willing to bet in 15 years when Friends goes to Nick At Nite, everyone bashing it is going to change their tune and talk about what a classic the show is and will be making "Phoebe Buffay Rules" screen names and the sort, it's just cool to hate stuff that is currently popular.

Friends is a classic already, and while you guys are bashing it, I think I'll sit back and watch some of my season 1 and 2 DVD's

Just because a sitcom is popular and critically-acclaimed doesn't mean everybody has to like it. I have tried watching Friends many times and it just does not appeal to me. It doesn't mean I'm stupid or anything. It just means that I have a different opinion than some people do.

If people like Friends, go ahead and watch it then. I'll be watching Wings, Everybody Loves Raymond, or something else that I enjoy.

I also don't understand why some people feel the need to criticize someone for not liking a TV show. I think Wings is a great TV show. I know some people strongly disagree with me and I'm fine with that. Everyone has different tastes.

We know you all dislike Friends... we've heard it over, and over, and over, and over... and now you are complaining about them winning two Emmys. I realize everyone has their opinions, but this is really starting to get old.

And boycotting the Emmys because a show YOU don't like won the best comedy award...? There is no logic in that.

Friends is a good show that has paid its dues and was finally rewarded with a long overdue Emmy. Not everyone likes the show, and that's understandable. I don't understand the intense hate this show generates from some people. When's the last time they watched it I wonder? How do they know they hate it if they never watch it? The show has evolved over the years.
From what I read on these boards, it's the Friend's lovers who are criticized by the Friend's haters, not the other way around.
Love it, hate it--whatever. The fact remains this show is a rating's success and has a legion of fans who surely outnumber the show's haters.
