This was one of the most disturbing cases. Hearing that poor woman plead for her life and he just shot her like that. That guy is exceptionally cold hearted. Rumor has it a man named Ronald West is the killer. He lived only 12 miles from the crime scene and his own wife said the composite drawing of the killer looked like her husband with a wig. Ronald West is serving two life sentences for murdering two young ladies in 1970. He is 76 years old and just got rejected for parole again. Does anyone know if he denied being the Blind River killer or even commented on it? Since he has already been in prison nearly 25 years and will most likely die there, would there even be a point in bringing charges against him even if he did do it? Personally, I think it was him.

I don't think he never admitted any involvement, but it is clear beyond any doubt that Ronald Glenn West did it. While the evidence IS circumstantial, it is about as rock solid as it can be. Let's face it, sadistic, random killers are exceedingly rare in general but even rarer in rural Ontario.
The parallels between this case and the Tom Johnson/Tom Steeples one in Tennessee are uncanny. In both cases it would be pointless to waste money to just prove the obvious. |

I read that the husband was shown a pictire of Ronald West but said he was not the killer but I agree with you that he almost certainly was. He is a cold hearted son of a bitch. animal. Like on the level of Ted Bundy. I didn't even know thehusband and wife and I was angry watching that.

Gord McAllister has passed away since. Back in 2012 to be exact. He did re-marry, and I can remember an article in the early 1990s (maybe 1992 or 1993) where Gord mentioned that he did have a new lady friend and that his kids weren't all warmed up to the idea of it yet. Maybe they did eventually. You have to give the man credit, he watched his wife of 39 years get whacked and then almost had it happen to him as well. I can see someone like what wanting love again. It makes sense.
One thing that often gets forgotten is that Brian Major got caught up in all of this. He pulls over to help, sees that the killer has a gun, gets back into his car and tries to start it but gets shot through the windshield. Dies and leaves a wife and son behind. Not fair at all. He is the epitome of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I don't know if I ever felt sorry for a person as much as I did Gord in that segment. |
