Hi All - Just thought I'd pop in. I'm new to this board... A HUGE fan of the show - Both Versions. I was fortunate enough to grab quite a few episodes from the E! run 6 years back... I don't know how much of the music has been replaced in those, but I think most of it is original, at least from what I can tell... What I don't understand is why the were for the most part unedited when they were on E!, and by the time they made the rounds to Nick, Tvland etc they were hacked up with a bunch of new overdubs. Wouldn't E! have to do the same thing, or did the rules change at some point?
Also - I like the "New WKRP" as well (Ducking and hiding) but only have a few episodes on tape from the 2nd season. I didn't think it was that bad, although I've never seen any episodes from the first season. True, it's not nearly as good as the original, but it aint bad. Am I the only one who's Annoyed by Tawny Kitaen? Anyway, I'm still looking to find ANYONE who might have these on tape? I would love to see them. Until then, I'll keep watching the original... Keep the pressures on for the DVD's - That would be awesome! Thanks Much! - GREAT Board! |

As far as the changes in syndication, at first it was with the original music or most of it at least. Jaime Weinman's WKRP information site has this to say: Originally, nearly all the music played on the show was real rock music by real artists, both in "WKRP"'s CBS run and in the subsequent syndicated reruns. But in the last few years, a new package of "WKRP" episodes has been distributed, and much of the music has been replaced by generic instrumental music from a music library, or by sound-alike "fake" songs. Also, some of the dialogue has been redubbed by voice impersonators, usually when the actors were speaking over the music, but sometimes to remove references to songs that have been replaced. http://members.allstream.net/~jacjud/wkrpmusic.html There is a lot on info on the site and I suggest you check it out. (main page is: http://members.attcanada.ca/~jacjud/wkrp.html) Again, welcome and hope to see you here often. |
