Default Were they a little rough on Marcia, kicking her out of the Romeo and Juliet play?

I know she was being horrible to everyone, but when Carol was talking to the drama teacher and they both decided something needed to be done, I thought they meant giving Marcia a STERN talking-to about her attitude, but they decided to just kick her out of the play. I just thought it happened a little abruptly. I mean people were making comments, in passing, to her about her attitude but no one really seriously talked to her about it.

I just thought they should have given her a stern talking-to first about how she was acting, like an actual serious conversation and not just the snippy comments people were making to her, and told her she has to change or she's out, instead of just kicking her out like that

And trust me, I've never been a huge Marcia fan, I've always been Team Jan lol, but that just seemed a bit unfair to Marcia

I don't recall this episode. Why did they kick her out? Was she the star?

Back in the good old days, diva like behavior wasn't rewarded with more attention and youtube followers. They nipped it in the bud, before it got totally out of control and Marcia became totally insufferable just like another current blonde pop diva we all know and loathe.

She deserved to be kicked out. She was a stubborn brat who thought because she was the star of the play that she could change the play. She humiliated her co-star during practice. She yelled at her parents that she did not have to read every one of her lines. Her dad said it was hard to improve Shakespeare when she wanted to change lines. During rehearsal she would go to remote areas to say her lines and confused the cast. She was insanely disrupting a simple play. They did the right thing. Brady Bunch episodes frequently have scripts where the kids are shy or hesitant to take a role or part. But then suddenly it goes to their head and everyone pays the price. In the end the kid comes back down to earth and learns a lesson.

Oh, she changed the lines of the play? She totally needed to be canned! I don't remember this episode. She was way over the top wrong in doing that!

She turned into an insufferable diva, even around the house. Of course, as always happens in the sitcom world, she came around and mended her ways within 25 minutes.

The episode starts out that Marcia is upset she was cast as the star of the play because she only tried out for the nurse. Marcia alleges the teacher/director only gave her the star role because of Mrs Brady's involvement in the play. Marcia insists she is not beautiful and noble to play Juliet. Her parents and the kids go out of their way telling Marcia how beautiful and talented she is. Its ridiculous. Then Marcia gets such a big head that her own mother calls her Katherine Hepburn. She becomes rude to everyone and not even wanting to do her chores because its not what Juliet would do. Its one of my favorite episodes for how ridiculous Marcia becomes. Marcia screaming and crying into the mirror when her own mother tells her she's not in the play anymore is incredible.

Marcia's most dramatic moment.
Mommmmmmmmmmmmm!
Also notice the mystery door to the right of the desk. Is it the bathroom door? In most episodes its to the left of the desk. In a few its to the right of the desk. But I have never seen a door on the same side of the entrance door (parallel to the hall).

LOL yeah I couldn't help but feel bad for Marcia during that moment and when she was crying REAL tears. I just feel like they should have been upfront with her and told her she has to CHANGE her attitude or she's OUT, then if she continued to behave badly, then kick her out. It even shocked me when Carol came up and told her she was out of the play, I was expecting Carol to have a talk with her and give her an ultimatum, and was expecting Marcia have a back and forth with her mom.

But it always made me feel bad and cry a bit too anytime the Brady kids cried real tears.... I know Marcia, Jan, Cindy and Bobby have all cried real tears and it always got to me.... More real than what you see on TV these days it seems. I don't think Greg and Peter ever did. I always wondered HOW they were able to cry, did they have to think of something sad? lol

I also felt bad for Alice when she was crying when she thought the kids didn't like her anymore

She was so mean to that boy in the play. He needed glasses but didn't wear them and he got all confused when she went up in the balcony on the set that wasn't in the script . He couldn't see well and was like " Marcia , where are you, what are you doing up there"? It was a funny scene but sad for that boy. He was whining !

Or something like that ? I haven't seen this ep.in a while.

Its very dramatic especially the way they play the Romeo and Juliet music in the scene.
