get ready for this information. "Good Times" ran on CBS from February 1974 to August 1979. the time slot was never consistent. it aired on Friday at 8:30pm for a few months in 1974; Tuesday at 8pm and later 8:30pm from 1974-1976; Wednesday at 8pm from September 1976 to January 1978 and for the rest of it's run it aired Monday at 8pm and later 8:30pm until September 1978 when it moved to Saturday at 8:30. CBS axed the show in December 1978 but heavy protests prompted CBS to revive the show in May 1979 in an effort to tie up any loose ends and in August 1979 a final episode was aired and it went out of production for good. the Top-30 ratings were: #17, 1974; #7, 1975; #24, 1976; and #26, 1977.

So the ratings must have been really low for CBS to axe the show in December of 1978. I didn't think anyone can protest a show being cancelled. What really would have happened if CBS decided to ignore the protests and not but the show back on the air?

i wouldn't want to know what could have taken place hadn't CBS not paid attention to the protests! it wasn't a protest like the stereotypical picket line and poster chants. simply a bunch of people refused to watch CBS and the media and the networks at the time took viewership seriously and it must've gotten so bad that CBS gave in and gave the green light for the summer 1979 episodes!? today, if people protest a show being axed they're called insane!
