It is very painful and sad to watch the later "Freddie Prinze" episodes. You can see that all is not well with the poor guy...He looks very thin, hollow-eyed and really out of it. It's sort of like watching those last bunch of 3 Stooges shorts with Curly in them. Curly HAD been great in the past, but his last shorts had him looking and acting tired, drawn and not at all with it.
Fans say that the show was never the same after Freddie's death, but to tell the truth, Freddie had "checked out" of the series LONG before he killed himself...That may sound mean, but it's true. |

I don't know whether or not Freddie looked run down or not, but I do have to say that it is true about Curly he did look tired and injured.........but what alot of people don't know about Curly is......that after the 1st stroke, he settled down had a daughter and married for the last time..........And although he had a series of strokes that led up to his death, he lived out the remainder of his live happy, even if it was with some pain. I have to say that I am very saddened by Freddie's end.........at only 23 he was just too fragile to handle the powerful surroundings around him.

Curly! I love the Stooges (and people think women don't like the Stooges???)! I share a boitday wit Coily, nyuk nyuk!
Rod's right about Curly. In "Half Wits Holiday" where he had the stroke during its production, he looked "not there", as if he knew something was going on. His brief resurfacing in "Hold that Lion" didn't indicate much of his state post-stroke, just that he grew hair again (unless I missed something). As for Freddie, yeah, I noticed in the later episodes he looks kind of glum and doesn't have quite the spark. Also, yes, he looks gaunt-faced and the makeup's piled on, especially around the eyes. Not quite Sid Vicious but heading in that general direction. ------------------ It was late one night by the pale moonlight all the vegetables gave a spree. |
