When did Goober first appear?
How did George Lindsey get cast on the show?

Goober's first appearance on TAGS was Fun Girls episode from season 4. He was mentioned by Gomer in previous episodes, but never seen. It was the only TAGS episode in which Gomer and Goober both appeared. He was once introduced by Andy as Goober Beasley, but was subsequently referred to as Goober Pyle.

George Lindsey auditioned for the role of Gomer, but lost out to Jim Nabors. When Jim left TAGS for his own show, George was called upon to replace him.
