In the 1980's football legend John Madden teamed up with Fry's Supermarket to launch a sweepstakes with his only commercial for Fry's Supermarket. To enter the sweepstakes people had to pick up a game piece with any Fry's grocery purchase and if they had the winning match on the game piece people won a trip to the 1980 Super Bowl complete with an after game meet and greet with John Madden. This was one of Fry's earliest commercials for Fry's in California "yes before becoming big in Arizona Fry's Supermarket actually was a California chain based in the Bay Area" But John Madden fans should check out this commercial because it's one of John's least talked about commercials in history
