Default Please help me: "Our Town" on Family Ties......

Hey everyone....
I'm sorry to admit that i'm not an avid viewer of Family Ties, but was wondering if anyone knew what the episode name and number is for the episode where the actors played in the play "Our Town". My English teacher really wants a copy, and if i can track down when it will be playing next i'll be able to tape it.
Thanks everyone

The episode is entitled "A My Name is Alex." Originally it was aired as an hour long episode, but in syndication it is split into two and it is numbers 119 & 120.

Thank you SOOOOOOOOOO much, but I'm not sure this is what i was looking for........... Unless the online episode guides are wrong, which they 25% of the time are. But here' what it's synopsis said....

"My Name is Alex (Part 1) (Originally Aired 03/12/1987)
My Name is Alex (Part 2) (Originally Aired 03/12/1987)
When Alex's friend Greg dies in a car accident, Alex is thrown into a state of shock and begins to seriously question the meaning and purpose of his own life. Having been asked to accompany his friend on the fatal trip and refusing because it wasn't convenient, he is overcome by guilt. He tries to fathom why he was spared in the face of such selfishness, and begins to have encounters with Greg's ghost. His family urges him to get help.
Alex seeks the counsel of a monk, Father Timothy, about changing his life, but ultimately decides against joining the order because of the chastity vow, Still hallucinating and tortured, Alex agrees to see a psychiatrist. In trying to come to terms with Greg's death, he talks about his life-long love of money and experiences flashbacks which reveal periods of his "selfish" past.
During these flashbacks, Alex asks the various members of his family how they feel about their lives and about death, and comes to a new appreciation of them as individuals. Though he can relate to their beliefs, he feels that such questions are much tougher for a "special" person like himself. When Alex is finally asked if he believes in God, however, he realizes that he does. With this breakthru, he is able to accept himself, deal with Greg's death and preserve his friend's memory by resolving to become the best Alex Keaton he can be."

Does this have the play "Our Town" involved in it too and it just didn't mention it in its description?

Thanks-

There is no episode in which the characters are in the play, "Our Town." However, this episode has often been compared to that play because it is done in a play format, tracing Alex's life and how he became who he is. He talks to a psychiatrist who is off screen and never seen and different scenes of his life light up and fade away behind him as he walks through them accordingly, which is similar to the plot of the play. When people refer to the "Our Town" episode, they mean that it is like "Our Town" not that the characters are actually in that play.
I hope that answers your question

I think you're actually looking for Growing Pains. They did an episode where Mike played the lead in "Our Town". Maybe someone on the Growing Pains message board can help you out. I remember the episode, but I'm afraid I don't know the name.

The name of that Growing Pains episode is "A star is born". It's episode number 51.
