Default Chopper Episode

Wow, whata episode! I can tell the look on june's face is somewhat barbara's feelings, she was divorced and widowed by her second husband by then, but i have a question, were jerry's parents divorced or getting divorced during the show? it seemed that jerry was truely saddened by the whole thing, i dunno!

This may well be my favorite ep. I get choked up every time when Beaver is pounding his fist into the baseball mitt and Wall puts his arm around him. The whole thing is great. Love the kid who plays Chopper. Loaded with personality and a great actor.

I agree, Frani. This is definitely a great episode. It almost makes me want to cry when I watch it. I felt sorry for poor little chopper!

Proof positive of why the child actors back then were great. I agree with the Beaver and Wally scene, it was heart warming (with Wally putting his arm around Beaver)

I agree with you. The child actors were so much better back then.

I accidentally just did something dumb guys. My mouse screwed up and and it went to one of the "Report post to moderator" things. I don't know if it took or not. I hope not. I just wanted TJ to see my explanation if it did take.

I also agree with everyone on this one. another reason why litb shouldn't get lumped together with other light hearted tv shows from that time. what a moving episode. not heavy handed or over -the-top. it was real and it was sad.

Very powerful and moving episode for a sitcom! (i.e Chopper) The other one is with the alcoholic. (Played by Wendell Holmes, who also plays Beaver's 6th grade teacher, Mr Blair.) Didn't Wendell also have another guest role on LITB? I think so, but am not sure.

Default very emotional

It was so different to see such a serious episode when most of the other ones are funny. It was very heartwarming to see. I wish I could've saw it again on Friday when it repeated but I was doing my usual volunteer work at the humane society. It was sad how at first beaver wanted his parents to get a divorce so he could have 2 sets of parents and get more presents on the holidays, but in the end he sees that chopper does really have it all that great.

In season #1, Wendell Holmes played 'Mr. Willot,' who was the band instructor giving auditions in "Music Lesson." In season #2 ep, "Beaver's Hero," he also played Mr. Willot, the Assistant Principal who was filling in for Miss Landers and who asked Beaver to bring in some of Ward's war souvenirs, since Ward was a "hero," according to Beavers. {He also told Beaver not to bring anything "dangerous," and Beaver was ashamed to bring Ward's surveying tools, so it is difficult to know what Mr. Willot really expected.}

Oh yes, this is another favorite episode of mine! I also got choked up during that one scene where Chopper has to go home, and Beaver is pounding his fist in anger, with Wally consoling him. Ah, truly great TV.
