Default Seth Rogen's 'The Green Hornet' gets a green light

Sony is moving forward with what may be the most unlikely superhero film yet: The Green Hornet starring Seth Rogen. The Knocked Up star will play Britt Reid, a bored playboy who inherits his father's crusading newspaper and spends his nights fighting crime with his sidekick, Kato. Additionally, Rogen is currently penning the film's script with his writing partner, Evan Goldberg (Superbad); Sony has yet to hire a director for the project. Hornet is due in theaters on June 25, 2010.

So does Seth plan on getting into shape for this?

The movie shouldn't be made he's not Brit Reed material, he's too fat and not old enough for the part.

the one good thing that might come out of this is that we might get a release of the 1960s green hornet series on dvd to cash in on the relase of the movie

They've been talking about this one for a while now. I had thought they had put this one back on the shelf, but I guess i was wrong.

It's going to be a tall order for Seth to write and star in a "superhero" movie, but I think he can pull it off.

As for whether he's the "hero" type, remember how much of an uproar was created when it was announced Michael Keaton would play Batman?

I still think he was the best actor to wear the suit.

I read a while back when Rogan was first mentioned for this role that he did promise to lose weight and get in shape for the role.

I doubt we'll see the rotund slacker Rogan type character duking it out with the bad guys alongside Kato.

Pretty much had no contact with anything related to the Green Hornet throughout my entire childhoold. When I did hear or read anything about him I was decidely not interested.

As far as green goes, I liked Green Lantern.

IMO Green Lantern is the next comic book hero they are going to bring to the big screen.

The story and character is just a bunch CGI just waiting to happen. I wouldn't be surprised if they're not working on something.

Just curious, wasn't there also a superhero called "The Green Arrow"?

Yup. I believe they are working on some sort of Green Arrow feature too.
