John Ritter appeared in the season two premire of The Ropers entitled "The Party". It is also called "Stanley, the Ladies Man". It airs in the Three's Company rerun package.

The show was cancelled because the Ropers did not have Jack, Janet, and Chrissy to play off of anymore. The Ropers were only funny to start with because the were in the presence of Jack and the girls. A show with just Stanely and Helen? I don't think so.

Question

"The Ropers" were good but in a bad time slot! how could anyone not laugh at Norman Fell or Jeffrey Tambor? if the show would've had the proper time slot and continue the emphasis on the two leading men's opposite social-values, it might've had a shot at four or five years. the show wasn't "Three's Company" and that was the problem with critics. i watched "The Ropers" reruns on FOX in 1988/1989 at 10:30pm on Sunday nights. it followed "It's Garry Shandling's Show", i think. i know that FOX had broadcasting rights for Shandling in cooperation with Showtime.

Well i purchased 4 episodes of the Ropers and I taped over all of them because they were not worth watching again.

i guess everyone's entitled to his or her opinion! i'm a nut because no matter if a show is good or bad, the sheer obscurity of it in my area is enough to make me want to tape something. "The Ropers" are no exception. if they were to air again, i'd make sure to tape some of the shows for my own personal happiness of having something hardly shown on TV. i'm a TV Guide collector too with some issues from 1978, 1980, 1984, 1985, and 1986 but my real collection starts in 1989. i've got an issue with Jack, Janet, and Chrissy that i'd never part with! it's from 1978 when some idiot felt it necessary to bad mouth it along with the great "Soap".

The Ropers and Soap should have been next to each other on the list of the 50 worst shows of all time.

No Mr. Furley wasn't brought right in as the new landlord because the Ropers left in season 3 and Mr. furley appeared in season 4. Mr. Furley first appearance on Three's Company was the 3rd episode of season 4. Actually the party episode was originally a Roper episode and is now apart of the Three's Company syndication package. So in the syndication package, the party episode is 3 episodes before the appearance of Mr. furley.
