There were some cool goalie masks in the 1970s and 1980s.

It's crazy that goalies used to play maskless. Also that players went helmetless. (that one guy back on defense is future legendary Islanders coach Al Arbour)

I wonder how many times Al Arbour had his glasses broken.
Glenn Hall's face probably looked like Geery Cheevers' mask after some games.  Murray Bannerman in the best jerseys in sports

They are not hockey masks.
They are goalie masks. This grew out of ignorant people who watched Friday the 13th. |
