Default Auto Insurance Rates Soar, Read On

https://www.activistpost.com/2024/01...ion-spike.html

Bloomberg penned a note Thursday reminding everyone who legally drives with insurance why rates are skyrocketing. The main reason is the complexity of new vehicles.

“It’s the complexity of vehicles these days. Repairing a base model Kia is nothing like it was just a few years ago. It might have ten different computers and all kinds of sensors,” said Ben Clymer, who co-owns a chain of body shops in Southern California.

Clymer noted part prices are soaring and warned this “really creates the perfect storm for higher repair costs.” This has contributed to auto insurance rates rising the fastest since the inflation spike in the mid-1970s.

Oh for the Good Ole Days!!!!!

They spread it out so everyone's rate goes up.

I gave up my car a few years ago, take the bus, walk or Uber. It is very expensive to have a car.

Property Insurance is the next to sky-rocket.

Insurance costs have always been a "THORN" for MOST average people, but we've managed to buy some types of insurance. I had to give up my car back in 2017 due to arthritic damage issues, and what a relief to be rid of that albatross.... which served me Good for decades..... Just about everything that runs and has a motor in it Today, comes with many computers....

I see the Big Plan for us more and more.

I think insurance should be made illegal and done away with completely. I like everyone else, HATE INSURANCE. It is disgusting that in America that health care is so expensive, partially because of these criminal insurance companies. But we “need” insurance for our health care needs. It’s a Catch 22 from Hell.

As a young adult in America, I never bought car insurance. Never. It really wasn’t until I left the country that my state (one of the last) mandated buying the crap. I don’t care if you think I was “irresponsible”, I saved a lot of money not buying insurance.

I actually accidentally ran into a guy’s car backing up my car and dented up his door. My stepmother has me on her insurance. Filed a claim and was told by the insurance (bleep) that it is better I pay what he wants because if the insurance pays for it, my stepmother’s rates will be much higher. Now, why my stepmother just didn’t buy me temporary insurance under my own name is beyond me (in my 50’s, no tickets since Clinton was President). If that was the case would have made the insurance company pay it, because this was going to be the last time I was to be in the USA (hopefully for good).

But I mean, why the (bleep-f) are we paying for “insurance”? The insurance company ducks for cover, avoids their part of the contract if possible, and again, don’t get me started on health insurance and that nonsense.

Really, insurance should be made illegal and anyone selling it jailed under a felony. You would be surprised how much better our lives will be practically overnight.

I drive a 2006 Pontiac Vibe. 8 Years ago, I was paying $500 a year for insurance, now I'm paying $1400 a year. I had Farmers Insurance for 30+ years. It got out of hand, so I shopped around. But as many told me every couple of years you have to do that now. We bundle with home too. Farmers told us that we are paying for the uninsured and the underinsured plus the cost of repairs and the accidents in your area. Seriously, it is getting out of hand.

You do know to get the reduced rates for an older auto? I drove a lot of "used" cars in my life.

With the company I chose, yes I'm getting a discount, but with Farmers no.

I have had two recalls about the airbags on my Vibe. I took my car in for both times. And for State Farm I'm sure in a couple of years I will have to shop for another company.

I never had any recalls in all the years I drove, about 60 yrs.

In my state, you can't register your vehicle unless you have it insured, and I think this mandated insurance is everywhere, as Yong Fang was indicating.

I had Shelter Insurance and they tried to do a hefty increase on me, even though the car was 1 year older and I had no traffic violations or incidents. I switched to Erie Insurance and over the course of the year I'm paying about $600 less in total, quite a savings.
