Default Nick @ Nites excuse for their bad line-up/shows

I saw the commercial lastnite, their new motto thing is "MODERN" Classic Hits. So no more just CLASSIC hits (Bewitched, I Love Lucy), its time for the modern (Cosby Show, Cheers, etc.). Ugh, if I want modern Ill watch TBS!! I mean, seriously Coach is not a "modern" classic, and neither is Roseanne, IMO. Full House would be a better modern classic, since its older, but its still too *new* for N@N. I want the 50s-70s classics back like it used to be. Dont fix something if it aint broken!

I agree. If I wanted to watch the modern shows, I would've watched them either the first time around or when they were on TBS.

Or even if they wanted their "modern" hits, why not bring on the EARLY 80s (Gimme a Break, Too Close for Comfort, etc.) before the mid-late 80s? I'm glad Cheers has a cable home, but still... lol. And now, with NaN recreating NBC's Thursday night lineup (the promos even say that!) TV Land has to pull up the weight and air the 80s shows, which is not what they should have to do, IMO.

Anyway, I think NaN will be getting an unwelcome wake-up-call regarding their modern hits, and they'll soon find out cramming them down our throats is not the way to go... just a strong hunch. Sure, they're all popular now....

Yeah, apparently it is popular, but you're right, all I have seen is bad things about it here. But, of course, we all make up a very small percentage of the viewing audience, and I doubt any of us have Nielsen boxes. So, it is popular. I have to admit, I like the new look for NaN (the blue-y type promos, etc) but I hate the show selection. It's just driving me so nuts. Yeah, their website IS a Cosby Show shrine, but I've heard there will be a Charles in Charge section (the only show I watch on NaN) soon. And isn't it funny, a few years ago, Nick at Nite had their own domain and TV Land was an "affiliate" (ie: http://www.nick-at-nite.com/tvland/) now it's http://www.tvland.com/nickatnite or something like that. I just wish when networks acquire shows, they acquire them EXCLUSIVELY. I'm either going to watch the show on one network, or not at all. I mean, It would've been nice to see Cosby, Cheers and Family Ties in like 2005 or something, but now... And then Full House will be coming, followed by Fresh Prince and maybe even Sabrina. Not that these shows don't deserve to be on Nick at Nite, but wait a few years!

Anyway, enough ranting, LOL.

Oh I know!! Have you ever taking the TVland/N@N poll? It asks you to pick 3 shows they are considering for their line-up in the future. I saw Becker, King Of Queens...OMG!! At least let the show end its first run! Yea, they over there seriously need to bring back the old N@N website, its a disgrace what it is now. Also, how do you get a Nielsen Box, thatd be so cool to have! lol.
Ohh, Id watch Charles in Charge (even though I hated Scott as Chachi lol), and other than that, Three's Company which is on @ 3am!!!! Ugh, luckily though, Im usually up in bed because lately I havent been able to fall asleep.

Well, on DirecTV I can watch the west coast feed of Nick (meaning I can watch CiC at 5:00am and 8:00am). So I get lucky there, LOL. Yeah, I did take that poll a few months back, I couldn't believe my eyes, LOL. I have no clue how to get a nielsen box, I almost did have one, and I'm kicking myself for not following through on it. You can probably try an internet search for a Nielsen website and contacting them. Couldn't hurt. Yeah, I'm taking a Three's Company break, but since I'm not watching as much shows anymore, I'll probably start watching again. I also have nothing against any of the shows NaN airs now, but I want to see early 80s classics, I mean, I haven't seen Blossom in ages (which is a shame, Disney or TBS should pick it up). Sure, it wasn't all that great, but still a good show that is overlooked, same with all the shows I previously listed. I mean, NaN should do what TBS did, is gradually advance (TBS aired all the old classics at one time, even The Honeymooners) in years, which is what I always thought they would do. At least we have Hallmark (well, some of us do, including myself) and hopefully someday we'll all have GoodLife. TV Land is okay and will be getting better, but I still miss Nick at Nite. I remember thinking back when I Love Lucy left that this was the end of the Nick at Nite, and it was.

Well, N@N is gradually doing that, they went from Patty Duke, I Love Lucy, Mr.Ed to MTM, Taxi, and now to Cheers. And Charles in Charge- did they even PROMOTE it for N@N? I just went to their website and noticed its now own at 5and530 am! Who knew? lol. For me, my favorite line-up was the one in 98-99 with Brady Bunch, Wonder Years, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, I Love Lucy and then Bewitched. Ohh, the good ol' days. I went from a N@N obsessed freak (seriously, I chose N@N over like NBC and CBS etc. current shows to watch Brady Bunch! lol), but now its like N@N what? Yeah, I dont get TVland nor do I get Hallmark. Life is so unfair. lol.

Are they seriously running a poll for shows to air that are still in their original runs?? That is absurd! N@N is supposed to be about CLASSIC television, not shows that were cancelled less than 10 years ago. Even if they are good shows, it is too early for them to be considered classics. This MODERN classics idea is terrible. I too was shocked at the new website, it is a Cosby Show shrine and there is nothing else on it except a link to TVLand. Its like N@N has been torn apart with nothing left but the exclusive right to promote The Cosby Show to death! I miss the old lineup from about 1996-1998, when they had I Love Lucy, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Taxi, The Brady Bunch, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Mary Tyler Moore, etc. Instead of having only 4 or 5 shows in repeated hour long blocks, why don't they put on like 20 shows, real classic shows, with a different lineup for each day of the week and each show on for one half hour? Save the mini marathons for special occasions. I must say I have been a fan N@N for many years, and downright obsessed with watching it, but in the past year I have been very disappointed in the direction it is taking.

Im so dead serious about the polls!! I was like...OMG, are you SERIOUS?? Some other shows were Punky Brewster, Bewitched, Everybody Loves Raymond (I THINK). So, some were old and USED to be on (Bewitched), and some arent even done yet!!! I totally agree with the line-ups. If I had known then that theyd be gone and N@N would be trash, I wouldnt have taken it advantage and wouldve watched Dick Van Dyke on a regular basis!! Ugh!!! I know..all they have is the Cosby Show...which is still on a few other stations over here!! I agree, theyve got like 4 shows, when they used to have like 12 or so. All of their marathons (N@N's Classic TV Countown, all the holiday ones, BLOCK PARTY SUMMER!!!!) are GONE. They should have a different theme each nite, maybe to satisfy EVERYONE, even tose who like Coach and Roseanne on N@N. Like, Monday can be all black & white classics, Tuesday the family shows (Brady Bunch etc), Wed. the 70s (Happy Days, L&S, MTM), Thursday, the 80s, Saturday a mix of each, and Sunday some kind of special--who can forget Instant Gratificatin Sundays!!!!!!

Yeah whatever happened to the good marathons? I'll never forget Mary Mondays, Lucy Tuesdays, Bewitched BeWednesdays, Jeannie Thursdays and Brady Bunch Fridays. Or Instant Gratification Sundays or any of the good old days. I was soo upset when they were all discontinued. I like that idea for having a different theme each night, that way everyone could have a chance to see the shows they want. However, newer shows are still in syndication on so many other channels, they don't need N@N yet, lets put a limit somewhere. That whole poll thing is just crazy. Why can't the N@N executives think of these good programming ideas? They need us message board people in program management!!

This is all I have to say, lol, "Simple, it's money." A thread on here (titled Syndicated Shows) has a good reasoning behind my statement. It's just all about the money.

Go for it! I would love to see that happen.
MB are my initials and they are also Meredith Baxter's initials, and I am a huge fan of hers. FT stands for Family Ties which is my favorite show. I was going to do something with Bewitched, my other favorite but I couldn't think of anything clever. Not that what I ended up with is that clever...lol, well anyway that's it.
I can't believe N@N has stooped to such standards!
