Default OPINION: Top 5 Studios Disney SHOULD Purchase in 2024 AND Beyond

Hello Everyone,

The following Discussion is an Opinion Post of what I PERSONALLY believe Disney SHOULD purchase for 2024 AND Beyond Acquisitions.

Among the Studios IMO Disney SHOULD Purchase include the following:

1. The Jim Henson Company -- A PERFECT Disney Acquisition, considering #1: Disney already owns The Muppets (as of February 2004, 20 years ago next month) and #2: Disney already owned the entire Jim Henson Company (then officially Jim Henson Productions) in the '90s, from December 1991 to September 1996, with Disney's Jim Henson Productions acquisition finalized in 1992, commencing with the theatrical release of "The Muppet Christmas Carol" that December, just in time for the Christmas season, and culminating with the VHS release of "Muppet Treasure Island" in 1996, this according to The New York Times article announcing Disney's Jim Henson Productions acquisition on December 18, 1991, just before Christmas. Initially, in August 1989, Jim Henson himself decided to sell his Muppet characters to The Walt Disney Company (as would eventually happen 15 years later, 20 years ago), but sadly, Jim's untimely death in May 1990 at age 53 caused the initial Muppet merger to fall through, BUT luckily, as noted, in December 1991, Disney struck a narrower deal to purchase the entire Jim Henson Productions library--not just the Muppet characters, but "Fraggle Rock," "The Storyteller," and "The Dark Crystal" among many other titles that Disney issued on VHS (nowadays DVD, Blu Ray, and 4K HD) under its Jim Henson Video banner. During this time, Jim Henson Productions (under Disney ownership) made a 3rd-party deal with Sony Wonder to issue 2 episodes on VHS Tape of the Saturday-morning cartoon show "Dog City," eventually issuing the tape AFTER FOX cancelled it.

2. Sony Pictures Entertainment -- An unlikely, BUT possible, Disney Acquisition. IF MY name were Bob Iger, I'd purchase the entire Sony Pictures film/TV library--NOT including as part of it Sony PlayStation and related entities, which I would have Sony spin off into a separate independent company called Sony Corporation of America, Inc. while Sony Pictures Entertainment would be re-named Columbia Pictures Entertainment, Inc. to avoid confusion with Sony Corporation of America, Inc. Among the Sony film/TV shows Disney would gain IF it were to purchase such library include the Norman Lear library of shows like "All in the Family" and its spin-offs "The Jeffersons," "Maude" and "Good Times," as well as "Seinfeld" and "Wheel of Jeopardy!" (my personal in-joke name for "Wheel of Fortune" & "Jeopardy!")

3. Paramount Global -- IF the Warner Bros./Paramount Media Merger falls apart, PERHAPS Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish could have Disney purchase Paramount Global instead, with the Paramount Pictures film/TV library part of The Walt Disney Company for all eternity--NOT including the CBS Television Network and related subsidiaries, which I'd have Bakish spin off into a separate studio called CBS Corporation, which would Syndicate "Wheel of Jeopardy!" with Columbia Pictures Entertainment, Inc. as a Disney subsidiary.

4. Nintendo of America, Inc. -- IF Disney were to ever want to get itself into the Video Game market, PERHAPS it could purchase Nintendo of America, Inc. and be the American owners of such Iconic Nintendo characters as the Super Mario Bros. and Nintendo Original Games such as "The Legend of Zelda."

5. Warner Bros. Discovery -- Alternately, as noted, IF the Warner Bros./Paramount Media Merger falls apart, and IF Disney opted NOT to purchase Paramount Global, PERHAPS it could instead purchase Warner Bros. Discovery, with Disney owning the right for all eternity such Warner Bros. TV shows and characters as Bugs Bunny, "Growing Pains," "Perfect Strangers," "Family Matters," "Full House" and many more Warner Bros. Television favs.

I SHOULD clarify that SOME of these Studios are as likely to be owned by Disney as HELL Freezing Over, but hey, Stranger Things have happened.

Until next discussion, I sincerely hope and pray you all have a Blessed Happy New Year and Remember, If You Want Somebody to Be YOUR Friend, You've Got to Be a Friend To Them. Bye Bye, Everybody!!!

Be for the best, if they would keep their grubby hands off any other property or studio.

They should divest 20th Century Fox and ABC and Hulu and ESPN and acquire no more broad entertainment libraries. Back to the business of being Walt's Disney.

If it were me I would instead have focused on cherry-picked films/franchise acquisitions to complement the traditional Disney family brand like Wizard of Oz, Willy Wonka, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Harry Potter etc.

Who I think Disney should purchase as a TV network and studio is CBS because with CBS and Columbia Pictures Disney could be making a lot of money and because if Disney bought CBS and Columbia Pictures Disney would have all the movies on Columbia Pictures on Disney+ and some of the sitcoms from CBS such as The Big Bang Theory and game shows The Price Is Right and Let's Make A Deal would be added to Disney+ as well as Survivor. The second wise choice would be for Disney to purchase Fremantle and all the Fremantle shows would be added to Disney+'s library and if Disney were to buy Fremantle it would make millions. The third choice would be Univision for the Spanish language market and if Disney was to buy Univision they could team up and create a Spanish language Disney+ as well as a Disney network in Spanish because Univision is a hit channel in the Spanish language market and if Univision was Disney's they could bring millions

How about this: Don't purchase any more major studios or conglomerates.

The Walt Disney Company has already killed one company's status as a major film studio when it acquired 20th Century Fox (big mistake; one reason why is Blue Sky Studios being shut down). I really do not want to see another major studio getting killed by Disney.

I agree with Disney acquiring The Jim Henson Company, but the others... a big NO!

Just due to monopoly concerns, I think the Justice Department would sue to prevent a Disney acquisition of CBS, since they also own ABC. Or whatever process the government would follow to ttry to prevent it.
