Here's what I received in an "e-alert" from the Parents Television Council:
Recently DirectTV customers were notified that the satellite service will be no longer be carrying Pax. Pax provides a variety of wholesome, family-friendly programs, and is home to Doc the #1 show on the PTC’s 2002 listing of the “Top 10 Best Shows on Prime Time Network TV.” Unfortunately, the network has not yet established local broadcast affiliates in many parts of the country. Viewers who live in areas without a local affiliate can only access Pax programming through satellite services like DirectTV. If you’d like to see this family-friendly network survive on the DirectTV system, please take a moment today to voice your support by visiting www.iwantmypaxtv.com, or calling 1-800-801-8039. |

Good. Good riddance. J/K (Just kidding)
. Pax is a great family network, but they've gone downhill, no Lucy, no Hogan = no me. LOL. I just got a few eps of "Here's Lucy" and guess what, It aired on Pax. I mean, I knew that, but still. Such a shame PAX can't be a really good family network with comedies and dramas, etc. Maybe DirecTV will replace Pax with Goodlife? Oooh, that would be awesome! I'm gonna contact DirecTV and see if I can weasle anything out of em, LOL. Anyway, I saw that DirecTV promo/thingy during Family Feud on Pax (the only reason I even bother to tune in now) and I was like WTF? Why? LOL. Is it not that popular of a channel? I know many have been requesting GoodLife, so this channel could indeed be replacing Pax. I actually get two Pax channels, one a local and the other the national feed. So I may be able to *finally* get a WB local affiliate in place of Pax and Goodlife in place of Pax. And is anyone else watching the new FF with Richard Karn? Not the best host, but not the worst either, it'll take some time to get used to him...

I do not get DirectTV, only cable. But DOC is one of my favorite shows and quite a few of us on the PAX DOC forum have let DirectTV know how we feel about their decision to take PAX off their programming.

Even though I want GoodLife TV added, I don't think Pax should be taken off. I just think IF Pax is taken off, GoodLife would be a wonderful replacement. And that is exactly what I told DirecTV when I e-mailed them, and called them. So, I kinda killed two birds with one stone, so to speak.

Once they stopped airing Here's Lucy that is when I quit watching the channel. I have no interest still in the channel unless they bring back Here's Lucy. I do agree completely that PAX-TV has gone downhill. Just my thoughts.

Pax sucks. I can't wait until it is gone. They only show crap for stupid people int the middle of the country. Doc is the most ******** show ever made. Some hillbilly country singer as a dr.......who cares.

Direct Tv getting rid of PAX...does this mean everyone or are they dropping PAX only to viewers who can get that network on a local channel?
I can see the latter happening. In fact our local PAX channel was upset at the fact that both Direct TV & Dish Network carried the national feed instead of them. Kinda like what happened with WGN awhile back. Since they are WB, for awhile the national feed of WGN aired WB shows just like one would see on WGN if they were in Chicago. That is until many of local WB stations got upset about this. Now WGN carries WB shows only to viewers in Chicago. The air something else on their national feed. Maybe PAX will be carried the same way Direct TV does with the national feeds of ABC,CBS,FOX, NBC, and I believe PBS. If you live far enough away from a PAX station, you should be able to receive something. If you live close by such a station , forget it !!! |

PAX is one of the greatest networks out there, and it deserves much better viewership. It is one of the only networks in the history of television where you can get the whole family to watch dramas, game shows, and comedies. I mean, this is WHOLESOME FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT for everyone from one to one-hundred.

Pax is only going for those who can get somewhere else. Don't get too worked up. About a year ago they said they were dropping PBS but they meant only to those who could get it elsewhere so DIRECTV just words things poorly. Since Pax is not available very many other places the chances are good you will still get it from DIRECTV.

I have DirecTV as I stated in my earlier posts, but I get Pax as a national feed (carried with the rest of my regular programming) and also as part of my local channel package. If they do "get rid of Pax" it'll probably be either A) The local channel or B) the national feed, but probably not both

If PAX went completely out of business, it would be a good thing. "supermarket sweep" should either go back to Lifetime, or could go to Hallmark (with the same timeslot). If that would EVER happen, I'm crossing my fingers that my cable company would replace it with SoapNet.
