the way he was with Sherwood Schwartz on the Brady Bunch? Robert was a stickler for wanting things to be realistic (rather than just funny) on the BB, so I began to wonder if on any projects, was he the same way? He did tv movies and of course he was in ROOTS. Does anyone know?

I would guess that Reed, at least as a young actor, took his work very seriously, and was probably serious about wanting shows he was on to be realistic.
I never saw him on "The Defenders" but I know he received very good reviews for his acting (3 Emmy nominations for other things, although he never won). "The Defenders" was a serious show, and I guess to Reed, going from that to something as "silly" as the Brady Bunch must have been a tremendous jolt to him, especially since he was under the impression that TBB would be a funny, but realistic show. I'm sure that, up until the end of the BB series, he conducted himself with the utmost professionalism, but of course, he started causing a lot of problems on the BB set toward the end of the series. |
