Suprised the classic cartoons have lasted this long on METV and that they added the Walter Lantz toons back in the Fall. With the Disney toons beginning to fall into the public domain each year, I wonder if they will start using the cartoons on the show?

"Toony Goes to Healthy" (season 4 show 2)
Daffy's Inn Trouble (Porky, Daffy - 1961 - McKimson) Easy Peckin's (1953 - McKimson) Fodder and Son (Woody - 1957 - Smith) The Uninvited Pest (Barney Bear - 1943 - Ising) The Last Hungry Cat (Tweety, Sylvester - 1961 - Freleng [co-director Hawley Pratt]) - most of the cartoon involves Sylvester being heckled by the Alfred Hitchcock-style narrator, voiced by Ben Frommer. One scene involving chain-smoking, coffee-gulping Sylvester has been edited out in the past |

The Iceman Ducketh (Bugs, Daffy - 1964 - Monroe [co-director Maurice Noble])
The Solid Tin Coyote (Road Runner - 1966 - Larriva) Bad Ol' Putty Tat (Tweety, Sylvester - 1949 - Freleng) - one of the least frequently-seen Tweetys is also one of the funniest. The short is rife with single-use, really funny gags, particularly the use of Tweety as a shuttlecock. False Hare (Bugs - 1964 - McKimson) - the last Bugs Bunny cartoon produced until Bugs Bunny's Christmas Carol in 1979 Sittin' on a Backyard Fence (1933 - Duval) - MeTV debut Dog Gone South (1950 - Jones) - MeTV debut of the funniest Charlie Dog short. Infrequently shown on TV, probably due to its setting in the South. Fully restored to its original form, this cartoon had been altered and reissued in 1959 Baby Buggy Bunny (Bugs - 1954 - Jones) - a unique, one-off opponent for Bugs |

"Perfect Pairings" (season 3 show 98)
(originally aired Tue. June 13, 2023) A Street Cat Named Sylvester (Tweety, Sylvester - 1953 - Freleng) What--No Spinach? (Popeye - 1936 - Fleischer) Football Bugs (1936 - Davis [uncredited]) - an early Charles Mintz Color Rhapsody, directed by Arthur Davis (credited only for the story). One of the few Rhapsodies to not be reissued and stripped of titles and credits. Appears to be two-strip Technicolor. Cat-Tails for Two (1953 - McKimson) - prototype Speedy Gonzales (Gonzalez in this one); the original opening and closing exist for this cartoon, but Warners used the Blue Ribbon reissue print for restoration Daffy Doodles (Porky, Daffy - 1946 - McKimson) - first McKimson cartoon. Here's a pretty good original titles/credits recreation -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMEkQ8jUK9A |

"Best of Teddy" (season 4 show 4)
Odor-able Kitty (1945 - Jones) - first Pepe cartoon, with a Bugs cameo. Pepe's pretty much in his final form here. Spinach Packin' Popeye (1944 - Sparber) The Impossible Possum (Barney Bear - 1954 - Lundy) The Snoozin' Bruin (Woody - 1971 - Smith) Mouse-Taken Identity (Sylvester - 1957 - McKimson) - not often seen on MeTV but is slightly censored when shown. Censorship is where Sylvester chases Hippety, and they are alternately in Indian feather garb. Edit: it appeared to be uncensored today. |

"Cold and Flu Boo Hoo!" (season 4 show 5)
Odor of the Day (1948 - Davis) - according to Looney Tunes Wiki Fandom, evidence exists (on model sheets) that the skunk in this cartoon is Pepe Le Pew. Other than the similar look of the character, there is no evidence in the cartoon, though. Chilly's Ice Folly (Chilly Willy - 1970 - Smith) The Sneezing Weasel (1938 - Avery) - cartoon has a satisfying ending! Buddies Thicker Than Water (Tom and Jerry - 1962 - Deitch) Hare Force (Bugs - 1944 - Freleng) |
