Default Opinion's On Lucy's Three Major Shows

Well, of course I Love Lucy is a classic. The show simply put was great. Almost every episode was good. The acting and scripts were terrific. Lucy's next show The Lucy Show was also good. I would say the 1st year was superior and the next two were very good. The last three years of the show were good but didn't quite have it with the absence of Vivian Vance and the poorer quality in the scripts. Lucy got into some really absurd situations even for Lucy. Lucy's 3rd and final major show Here's Lucy was good. Lucy's daughter Lucie added alot to the show and proved she was a really good actress. Of course Lucy and Gale Gordon did a good job as well. The show had some really great esipodes too. Lucy and Elizabeth Taylor's ring is absolutely the best show Lucy ever made. Of course for the great and good episodes in the Here's Lucy series there were a few bad episodes as well due in large party to a poor script that didn't have a real premise to start with and that caused Lucy to be put in some really ridiculous situations similar to some of the episodes during the last 3 years of The Lucy Show. Most of these bad Here's Lucy episodes occured during the last couple of years.

I Love Lucy is a wonderful masterpiece and the best show ever. The scripts and the acting were both top-notch. The chemistry amongst the actors was pure magic. Lucy is definitely the glue to this show . . . she's so talented and funny. Almost every episode and season of this fantastic comedy is superior. This is definitely a show that everyone should have a chance to see.
The Lucy Show is 100% pure classic. This particular show had so many classic moments that it's unbelievable (especially during the first season)! Thanks entirely to the geniuses of Lucille Ball, Vivian Vance, Gale Gordan, Mary Jane Croft, and the various guest stars. Once again, Lucy is what held this sitcom together in both good AND bad situations. Nonetheless, all six seasons I think are worth watching (including the fourth season). Both formats (Lucy & Viv / Lucy at the Bank) are unique in their own way which has contributed to making the whole entire series a much stronger, greater classic. With that said, I must say The Lucy Show is one of the, if not THE, best show(s) of the 1960's era.
Here's Lucy is a joy to see especially when it showcased Lucy's very own children as well as the GREAT Gale Gordan. It had one fine cast. Besides the cast, the writing was good depending on the given situation. Like all series, this show had both good and bad moments which doesn't make it unusual from the rest. This sitcom is fairly average and is quite good during the course of the first three years. The last three years were good too but they lacked the presence of Desi Arnaz, Jr and the occasional visits of Vivian Vance. Good or bad, it is always a treat to see Here's Lucy.

I totally agree with LucyFan. All of Lucille Ball's work is excellent, in whatever she was in. I grew up watching I Love Lucy on Nick @ Nite and TVLand. I've literally seen every episode innumerable times, and still love it. But, having said that, the opportunity to see her other shows is like a breath of fresh air. While I Love Lucy will remain the timeless classic it is, I truly think TLS & HL are grossly underseen & underappreciated, and desperately need to be put before the masses again, and not just in limited-release DVD form...I can't really say that any of these series is better than any other one, they are all unique and wonderful...

All 5 series had moments of genius, and some from each were classics. I am currently enjoying Here's Lucy more than the I Love Lucy's i've memorized, The Lucy show with Dean martin and the Here's Lucy with Liz and Richard are comparable to the chocolates and the grapes, Lucy WAS each series and had great support, her genius will never be matched.

I Love Lucy is quite simply the best sitcom ever created, IMO. The writing, acting...everything about the show is superb. There never has been and never will be another television show that could come close to the excellence of "I Love Lucy."

The Lucy Show is another GREAT show. It really deserves more recognition. I think the only reason it's not as popular as it might be, is because people are constantly comparing it to "I Love Lucy." Although it wasn't #1 every year, I'm pretty sure it was never out of the top 10, which is pretty impressive. I absolutly love this show! Although there might have been some silly episodes (especially in seasons 4-6), it's still wonderful. Hopefully some day all of the episodes will be out on DVD, because I only own about 60 of them, and I barely remember some of the other classic episodes. (I haven't seen it regularly since I was 7, when Nick @ Nite took it off the air.)

I haven't seen enough of Here's Lucy to really comment on it, but from what I have seen, it's yet another fine sitcom starring Lucille Ball (then again, anything Lucy has appeared in is great! ). I can't wait till the DVD's come out!

Amber, sounds like you're coming due for another Claude tape, with only The Lucy show and Here's Lucy on it, you're right, both series had some classic shows.
