FT. LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA (BNO NEWS) -- A Canadian radio station on Sunday evening reported that actor Leslie Nielsen has died at a hospital in Florida. He was 84.
Doug Nielsen, his nephew, told CJOB talk radio station in Canada that the actor passed away at a hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The Canadian actor had been hospitalized for nearly two weeks as a result of pneumonia.

"Just in this last 48 hours, the infection has gotten too much and today at 5.30, with his friends and his wife by his side, he just fell asleep and passed away," Doug told the radio station.

What's kind of creepy here is that they really did come in threes. Mr. Nielsen is the third Airplane! star to pass away this year!!! Peter Graves passed on in March, Barbara Billingsley in October and now Leslie Nielsen.

Leslie Nielson. He will surely be remembered as an excellent dramatic actor at the beginning of his career. And he was surely one of the the world's most talented comic actors at the end of his career. But please don't call him Shirley!

Oh, no... Leslie has always been one of my favorite comedic actors and I loved him in the Naked Gun series. Plus, he also played Lucas in the series finale of The Golden Girls... his wonderful sense of humor will certainly be missed...
