"Wheel of Fortune" came out in 1975 on NBC daytime with the one and only Chuck Woolery! His assistant was Susan Stafford. They did the show until 1982. Pat Sajak and Vanna White took over and in 1983 an evening syndicated version came along with Pat and Vanna doing double-duty. Pat left the daytime version in 1989 and was replaced by a football player named Rolf Benirschke who was quickly replaced by Bob Goen when the show left NBC for CBS daytime. The move was temporary because in January 1991 it moved back to NBC daytime where it was axed in September 1991. The evening version by 1991 was in it's eighth year. It's usually the lead-in to "Jeopardy!" in some markets. Anyway, in 1992, Pat and Vanna celebrated 10 years as hosts of the show. Jump to 2002 and they're still here after 20 years...even more remarkable is that the show, in 2000, celebrated it's 25th Anniversary (1975-2000)! In 2005 it'll still be on the air and that will make it 30 years!!

Pat Sajak took over for Chuck Woolery in December 1981, and
Vanna White replaced Susan Stafford in November 1982.

Chuck Woolery was not the original host of Wheel Of Fortune. Edd Byrnes (Kookie from 77 Sunset Strip) was hired by Merv Griffin to host the series and did in fact host the debut episode. NBC Executives didn't like Byrnes as host so he was immediately fired and replaced with Chuck Woolery.

Hey BulletTrain, is that picture of Chief Wiggum in your avatar some sort of "First-time-he's-ever-seen" picture or something? He somehow looks different.
