Why did Mike O'Malley leave Nickelodeon game shows for sitcoms? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I remember when Mike O'Malley was gonna be Nickelodeon's next big star in game show hosts next to Marc Summers when Mike made his hosting debut in Get The Picture and then went on to star in Nickelodeon Guts and Global Guts. But after Guts ended it's run Mike O'Malley "retired" from Nickelodeon and went on to be a sitcom star by starring in CBS's Yes Dear. I would've thought Mike O'Malley would be a big star in Nickelodeon game show hosts because he had great talent at game show hosting

I saw the debut episode of Nickelodeon Guts yesterday on Paramount+ and I can honestly say this was one show that was tailor-made for Mike O'Malley because he not only is funny but shows his sense of humor as well. I think after making his debut on Nickelodeon with Get The Picture Mike knew he wanted to follow in Marc Summers's famous footsteps and so Mike O'Malley begged Nickelodeon to let him have another game show and so they offered him the hosting job of Nickelodeon Guts because at the time Get The Picture was on Marc Summers was Nickelodeon's game show king with Double Dare and Mike O'Malley was the crown prince of Nickelodeon. But why Mike O'Malley decided to do sitcoms rather than game shows i'll never figure out? But Mike was really talented in Nickelodeon Guts and if Nickelodeon was to reboot Nickelodeon Guts they should put Mike O'Malley as referee and have Paul Rudd host Nickelodeon Guts in the future
