Default Why so popular

Is this board so popular because of John Ritter and/or Katey Sagal? Or is it because the show does actually look good?

It's popular for all three reasons.

For the same type of reasons a lot of other boards on this site are popular...

It's because of John Ritter. If John Ritter wasn't in this, Pavan wouldn't even care about the show. (If John Ritter wasn't in this, that would mean he'd be in 'The O'Keefes', and that's the show Pavan would swear will be the #1 show this season, even though it would be on the WB)

John Ritter has a great reputation.
"Threes Company" was one of the most popular sitcoms of the 70's/80's, and many viewers are hoping that he can bring another funny show to TV.
I personally think it is a hoot seeing the guy who played a free wheeling bachelor on one show now play the protective Dad in another show.
I hope the writers on "8 Simple Rules" try to work some jokes in to the show that reflect on John Ritter's sitcom past...

Yeah, that will be interesting if they do. I remember in one of the last years of Suzanne Somers' "Step by Step" the character of Jean Luc commented on her resemblence to Chrissy Snow.

I'll be checking out the show because of both of the reasons W&GF gave.

No, if it's the WB, I'd watch the show if John is in it, but I wouldn't say that the show will be #1 in the ratings. It's the WB for crying out loud, I don't watch anything on that channel and don't care to. And why are you always pestering me? If you don't agree with me, fine, but just stay out of this board if you think the show is bad.

Well, if I do end up watching this show it will be because it is actually funny not because John or Katey are in it. Actors can't make great writing, no matter how good they are. Look at the last three shows Katey was in(Tucker, Imagine That) both which lasted less then 5 episodes.

But because I'm a fan of both actors I'm rooting for their show to do well.

I'm not pestering you. And, I don't have a problem with the show. But, even if it was on the WB, you'd think it would be so good, cuz your idol or whatever would be in it.

Yeah so what? I wouldn't say it would be the #1 ratings show if it were on the WB.

We'll never know, since he chose to take this role instead. It looks like a show I could chuckle at, I'll be tuning into the pilot... (This actually looks better than In-Laws, truthfully. In-Laws looks like a snooze fest)

Mine too.I mean those shows make the final 1 or 2 years of TGIF (Not including "ABC's New Fridays" which but actually after TGIF even though I always called it that) look like crap!
