TV TV Line: "Farewell to the Shows Ending in 2022"

After Life

Ricky Gervais’ Netflix dramedy will drop its third and final season on Friday, Jan. 14.

Season 3 will span six episodes.





Animal Kingdom

Before its fifth season had even debuted, "Animal Kingdom" was renewed for a sixth and final season at TNT, expected to air in 2022.

A premiere date is still TBA, but the crime drama is typically a summer staple for the cable net.





Arthur

The beloved animated children’s series will conclude with Season 25, set to premiere on PBS on Monday, Feb. 21.

Arthur will continue to be available on PBS Kids for years to come,” executive producer Carol Greenwald said in July. “Producer GBH and PBS Kids are continuing to work together on additional Arthur content, sharing the lessons of Arthur and his friends in new ways.





Better Call Saul

After COVID-induced production delays and a health scare for leading man Bob Odenkirk, "Better Call Saul‘s" return date for Season 6 is still unknown.

It’s tentatively expected to premiere in early 2022 and, per Variety, will be split into two halves.





Better Things

Season 5 of Pamela Adlon’s acclaimed FX comedy will be its last; new episodes begin Monday, Feb. 28, at 10/9c.





black-ish

ABC’s long-running family comedy will end with Season 8, premiering Tuesday, Jan. 4, at 9:30/8:30c.





Claws

The fourth and final season of TNT’s crime dramedy is currently airing Sundays at 9/8c; the series finale is set for Feb. 6.





Dead to Me

Production on "Dead to Me‘s" third and final season was delayed, due to both the coronavirus pandemic and star Christina Applegate’s recent multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

The Netflix dark comedy is now expected to return sometime in 2022.





Derry Girls

In September, "Derry Girls" creator Lisa McGee confirmed that the British comedy — which airs on Channel 4 across the pond — will end with Season 3.

Filming on the final season wrapped in December and is expected to drop Stateside on Netflix sometime in 2022.





A Discovery of Witches

The British fantasy series is set to end with Season 3, which will become available in the United States via Sundance Now, Shudder and AMC+ on Saturday, Jan. 8.





The Dr. Oz Show

Following host Mehmet Oz’s announcement that he’s running for Pennsylvania’s open United States Senate seat, the syndicated "The Dr. Oz Show" has set a series finale airdate of Friday, Jan. 14.

The daytime talk show — which will have run for 13 seasons — will be replaced by "The Good Dish", a one-hour syndicated program hosted by Oz’s daughter, Daphne, food writer and "Top Chef" judge Gail Simmons and "Let’s Eat" co-host Jamika Pessoa.





The Ellen DeGeneres Show

In May, Ellen DeGeneres announced that her eponymous daytime talk show would end with Season 19, which is currently airing in syndication on weekdays.

The show’s final episode will air in Spring 2022.





The Expanse

New episodes of the sci-fi drama’s sixth and final season are currently dropping Fridays on Prime Video.

The series finale releases on Jan. 14.





Family Reunion

In October, Netflix renewed its family sitcom for a third and final season, which will consist of 10 episodes.

A premiere date has yet to be set.





Grace and Frankie

Netflix surprised "Grace and Frankie" fans back in August by releasing the first four episodes of its seventh and final season.

The remaining 12 installments will debut sometime in 2022.





Happy Valley

More than five-and-a-half years (!) after its sophomore finale aired, the U.K. crime drama was renewed in October for a third and final season, which will drop Stateside on AMC+ (instead of Netflix, where the first two seasons landed).

Filming on the final six episodes will begin in early 2022, with a premiere date expected later in the year.





Kevin Can F*** Himself

The Annie Murphy-led dark comedy will end with Season 2.

The eight-episode sophomore run, which will air on both AMC and AMC+, does not yet have a premiere date.





Killing Eve

The BBC America drama will be back for its fourth and final season on Sunday, Feb. 27, at 8/7c.

The premiere episode also will be available a week earlier, on Feb. 20, on streaming service AMC+, and will broadcast on AMC on Monday, Feb. 28.





The Last Kingdom

Netflix’s historical drama, which is based on Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Stories novels, will drop a 10-episode fifth and final season in 2022.

The saga will officially wrap up with Seven Kings Must Die, a feature-length film that will star several of the series’ cast members.





Motherland: Fort Salem

Freeform renewed its supernatural drama in August for a third and final season, expected to debut in 2022.





Ozark

The fourth and final season of Netflix’s crime drama will be released in two parts, each consisting of seven episodes.

Part 1 drops on Friday, Jan. 21, while a release date for Part 2 is still TBD.





Peaky Blinders

The BBC series — which airs Stateside on Netflix — will be back for a sixth and final season sometime in 2022.

In lieu of a seventh season of the show, creator Steven Knight has confirmed that a movie is also in development, which he calls “a fitting conclusion to the story told so far.





Queen Sugar

Just ahead of "Queen Sugar‘s" Season 6 finale in November, OWN renewed the drama for Season 7, which will also be its last.

Production is set to begin in early 2022 in New Orleans.





Search Party

HBO Max’s "Search Party" will disband on Friday, Jan. 7, when all 10 episodes of the comedy’s fifth and final season become available to stream.





This Is Us

NBC’s tearjerking family drama will come to an end with Season 6, premiering Tuesday, Jan. 4, at 9/8c.

The 18-episode swan song will air largely uninterrupted, save for a brief hiatus during the 2022 Winter Olympics.





The Walking Dead

The 11th and final season resumes on Sunday, Feb. 20, at 9/8c, when another batch of eight episodes begins to unspool at AMC. The long-running series’ final eight installments will then air later in 2022.

"The Walking Dead" universe is far from over as "Fear the Walking Dead" was renewed for its 8th Season and several other spin-offs are in development.





Wu-Tang: An American Saga

Hulu’s scripted docudrama was renewed in November for a third and final season, expected to premiere sometime in 2022.
