Heart Marie Callender vs Stouffers Frozen Food/Meals

I've been having an Interesting and Learning experience with these 2 brands in the last few days. A friend from back East was all psyched on Callendar turkey dinner and so I dove in a bought a few...and OMG, not a food I'll buy again. The foods was so Soupy and in reading reviews Everyone said the same thing....So out with Marie's foods...

Now I have used Stouffers a couple times, their Lasanga and Creamed Spinach and was very satisfied but have not bought any in a long while and now at this Older place in my life, I'm leaning on these foods more. I use my conventional oven to heat them up...I use no microwave for anything, don't own one.

They have a turkey dinner and I'll try it eventually.

MOST of their foods are given Positive Reviews....

These are processed so consider that and the sodium can be high but I take some potassium tablets to cancel out some of the sodium when I eat these foods...

So there it is -- more from this honest gal....

The Stouffer's Turkey Tetrazzini is usually good.

Stouffers is my favorite for frozen meals. I agree about the Turkey Tetrazzini, it's good and tasty but I haven't had any for awhile, the grocery store that I now shop at doesn't seem to stock it but they have other Stouffers meals.

For Marie Callenders, I like the Fried Chicken and Mac & Cheese meals.

I like Marie Callendar's chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy and corn. Delicious! And Stouffers Lasagna is really good. So I'll say I like both of these brands .

Well, since talking about Stouffers I just ordered a lasanga and cream spinach and a couple other things for tomorrow delivery....yes it's Stouffers for me. I have 2 M.C. turkey dins and will have to soup them down in a while, not anxious for that thou.

My aunt took me to Stouffer's Restaurant in downtown Pgh way back and found this neat photo:

Years ago --we're talking 1960s--Stouffers made a frozen Welsh Rarebit that was good. We chopped up a hard boiled egg in it. It was easy to melt it in the fry pan and add the chopped eggs, and put it over toast.

Yes Stouffers was a restaurant and hotel chain, and the name was eventually bought out by Nestles.

I never thought of eating Lasagna with creamed spinach. I'll have to look for the creamed spinach; I didn't know they still made it.

I don't eat them together, cream spinach by itself when I feel like it and same with meat lasanga....t

I have 1 more Trader Joe's cobb salad my friend picked up for me, so I'll work on that a little later.

The real hard core cook will make a wonderful spinach lasanga....

Stouffers Lasagna is good but I don't eat it too often because I think it's a little spicy for me and it tends to give me a touch of heartburn. Ginger Ale works like a tonic for me, I drink a can and it settles the heartburn issues.

Frozen Stouffers meals that I currently buy are:

Mac & Cheese
Fettuccini Alfredo
Cheddar Potato Bake
Baked Chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy

At one time downtown Chicago had a Stouffers restaurant, I was there years back in the 1970's or 80's.

And then there are those who Love to cook their own foods..I was just looking at a spinach lasagna and how beautiful it looks and tastes great, nothing like home cooking. I was not in those ranks but I cooked most of my life.

During recent visits to the grocery store I've been buying these Country Fried Chicken & Gravy frozen meals with Mashed Potatoes & Corn from Marie Callender's, these meals are very good and quite tasty, I buy them on a regular basis now as long as the store has them in stock.

I've been on a Stouffer's kick and hope hope I'm not messing up blood pressure for one thing, but I'm taking more potassium too to counter the sodium....

These foods are highly processed. Amy's Organic soups are a good choice.

Stouffer's has a very good roast turkey dinner vs callendar's --- I won't buy M.C. foods anymore.

I've had those Stouffer's Roast Turkey meals and they're pretty good. Overall I probably favor Stouffer's a little more compared to Marie Callender's but I buy some of both.

I haven't had either company's products in about 2 years, with the exception of a frozen Marie Callender chicken pot pie one time. I'll probably be getting back to them. I used to eat Stouffer's fish filet fairly often:

Oh, I didn't know they carried a Fish Filet, I'll look at that as I try to eat seafoods when I can find them "affordable"....thanks...I just checked my market doesn't appear to sell this Fish.

Here is a video on the fish stuff...I do NOT use a microwave in my life, so it's my oven for all of these.
