Default How come Kylie Minogue never achieved success in America?

When Kylie Minogue released her 1988 debut album Kylie in America Kylie was due to compete with Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson and Jody Watley thanks to her remake of Little Eva's The Locomotion but after her second album Enjoy Yourself was released in 1989 in America Kylie Minogue disappeared from America until she came back to America with her 2001 album Fever was released. Was Kylie fearful of competing with Madonna when she debuted in 1988? Because I find it shocking that Kylie Minogue's first American albums have gone out of print and have never been remastered in America but her other albums had an Australian release and never been released in America. I did notice that after the release of the Fever album Kylie Minogue's next albums were released in America as well. Was Kylie Minogue not promoted well in America when she came out in the 80's?

Cool

Because she was Australian, like AC/DC. However, AC/DC achieved success by using a "Western" producer Mutt Lange for their 1979 album 'Highway To Hell'.

To me why I think Kylie Minogue never achieved success in America was because as I mentioned in the opening post in this thread they were gonna make her the Madonna of Australia but I think she was going for the same route as singers like Stacey Q. Jody Watley Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson were in the 80's pop scene. My first exposure to Kylie Minogue was her 2001 American comeback album Fever and when the song Can't Get You Out Of My Head became a smash hit on radio I was surprised at her talent and bought my own copy of the Fever album and I saw that they had given Kylie Minogue a Janet Jackson type image. I then started looking for early Kylie Minogue albums and found the American version of Kylie's 1989 album Enjoy Yourself and that album has a Paula Abdul like sound. But it would be nice if Kylie's early albums like Impossible Princess get remastered and released in America someday

Not as much as some female singers, but with 3 top 40 hits I don't know how you can say Kylie Minogue "never achieved success" in the U.S. Her 3 American hits are, I Should Be So Lucky, Do The Loco-motion, and Can't Get You Out Of My Head.
