In the episode where Kelly graduates high school, I thought it strange that Howard wasn't there for her.

This was the season 5 premiere, so maybe the actor playing Howard had moved on to something else. He wasn't even mentioned, though.

He went on to college with her, and I think he was in several final season episodes. I remember one where he took up fencing. Played by Jimmy something or other.
