Default new

I'm new to this site and to Charles in Charge. I actually just watched my first episode when Nick at Nite started airing them at 5am & 5:30am last week. It is now my favorite show!

I know there were two families, the Pembrokes and the Powells, but I have only seen episodes with the Powells. Which does everyone like better?

What other stations air Charles in Charge?

Default never seen pembrokes?

Well hopefully we'll be able to see the Pembroke episodes sometime again on Nick at Night. Both families hold a certain fondness to me, but I think I like the Pembroke episodes slightly more. This was the early 80's and the Pembroke family just seemed a little more down to earth and real. Don't get me wrong, the show was great until the end even with the revamped cast. (I was surprised how well this show holds up today after watching it again on Nick at Night) The only complaint about the Powells is that they just seemed a little too stereotypical 80's.

If you do ever get to see the Pembroke episodes, some things that you'll notice are...

-Buddy's IQ is up about 100 points.
-Meg Ryan makes a couple guest appearances as a love interest.
-Jill Pembroke is played by Julie Cobb, not Lisa Donovan who you see in the first season 2 episode.
-The theme song is a different version with more of a light rock feel rather than the new wave style of season 2-5.

I think I like the Powells more because I grew up watching them more.

Pembrokes! It was such a sweet, pure show...the chemistry those characters had was incredible. I sincerely hope they start to play the Pembrokes...I love the Pembroke season....they also had cuter kids, ha ha.

God bless!

Julie Cobb was credited in that episode as Lisa Donovan. You know what I mean? For example, on some shows, Cliff Arquette is credited as Charley Weaver.
