This was reported back in October. I have not been able to confirm if he is still alive at this point. Couldn't help but think of UM when I read about this. It sadly fits the criteria of their "Special Alert" segments.
I think pictures of his clothing, backpack, etc. should also be circulated. That could help trigger someones memory. Edit: It just dawned on me and now I'm starting to wonder if he was "smuggled" into the country. While not common knowledge, it's a known fact that human smuggling also involves Asians, and not just into San Francisco either. The port of Los Angeles is not far from San Pedro. Latin American migrants who cross the border illegal or are smuggled in are often told to not carry anything that could identify them. That means ID, credit cards, anything with their names on it, out of fear of being identified by customs or border patrol. I do not think that anyone who beat him up, randomly on the street, would have taken the time to rifle through his wallet to remove credit cards, passport, etc. You never know, but some thug on the street would most likely have not made the effort. It's curious to me that he didn't have anything but yen in his wallet. And from what I've read, this was not a rough part of town. Many areas of San Pedro are nice and well to do. Rent in all of San Pedro is "sky high" and there are million dollar homes everywhere. True, in LA you never know what can happen, even in the nicest of places but, seriously, a visitor with no American money, no credit cards, getting beaten nearly to death in a residential area is not the norm. https://thesuitcasedetective.com/202...issing-person/ |
