Default Is it my imagination or are we seeing more commercials for medicines and illnesses?

It seems that from 2019 to this year I'm noticing more commercials for medicines and illnesses than commercials for anything else and it seems that the 2020's will become the decade of health. Take for instance whenever I watch Legends Of The Hidden Temple on Paramount+ I see commercials for Pearle Vision Centers about eye exams for kids and when I saw this on Paramount+ it shocked me that they're trying to promote eye health on a kids channel and the kids oriented channels like Nickelodeon and Disney Channel and Cartoon Network used to promote toy commercials and McDonald's Happy Meal commercials but now you see few kids oriented commercials on TV and now it's all health commercials targeting kids. And when I was watching Press Your Luck on Hulu Hulu had an entire commercial block of nothing but commercials for medicines and illnesses and if you look at the commercials for new medicines just like they used to always do in the previous commercials for medicines they put warnings like "side effects may include fainting double vision vision problems leg twitching or stomach pain" and I think these commercials lie because people don't get problems after taking the medicine and I think these medicine commercials really need to go. And when you watch TV it seems that the two illnesses that always get promoted in commercials that you a lot of commercials for is cancer and diabetes and also the flu and I had never seen so many cancer commercials and commercials advertising diabetes and it makes me think that these commercials spend a lot of money on airtime for TV. And a new thing that I noticed about kids health commercials is that they now promote things with slogans saying "Get active" or Go outside and play to get more exercise" and it tells me that these commercials encourage kids to be healthy and even in the cereal commercials for kids they encourage kids with slogans such as "Eat a healthy meal" or Get energy" and what I see of these health and illness and medicine commercials is that this is the restart of the health and fitness craze that occurred during the 80's and they are making it for the 2020's. But as I mentioned in many countless posts it's about time we see commercials for food and cars and other things besides health and illnesses and commercials would be great to watch more

Hi, Hawkee! I think that companies think most tv viewers are old and sick. Plus the big pharma is full of cash because of all the covid money. I am tired of seeing commercials pushing drugs to make me lose weight or clear my skin, but with side effects like crapping my pants and dying. Where are the good old commercials pushing sugar and fatty foods? That is wha I want! What do you think?

I think illness and medicine commercials really need to go and I cannot figure out how these commercials get money for airtime on TV. Take for instance when I began watching Star Trek Strange New Worlds on Paramount+ this morning EVERY single commercial break advertised health and illnesses and medicine and flu shots and there was only one car commercial and two Walmart commercials and one Target commercial in the bunch and I think Paramount+ gets most of their commercial money from these health medicine and illness commercials and as I mentioned there should be less health commercials and commercials for food and laundry detergent and cars should be shown more. I was surprised at how many health illness and medicine commercials they showed on Paramount+ and these commercials should really disappear in the future

I think the reason why there is so many medicine and illness related commercials on TV is so the advertisers can get lots of money for airplay on TV. The way I see it is as I mentioned in my opening post is that the health and fitness craze is making a return this decade and they are making lots of new health and fitness items that people think will sell. A new type of health commercial that is also getting overhyped next to medicine and illness commercials is diet and weight loss program commercials and also health clubs are making big time commercials such as Planet Fitness and I think this summer is gonna be the summer of health and fitness too. But now the illness that is getting tons of commercials is the flu and cancer and diabetes are the second and third illnesses that get commercials. But I wish that we could focus less on health and illness commercials and have car commercials food commercials and cleaning products commercials because that is what made TV great to watch

I understand that the networks (whichever is your favorite - it might be an over-the-air net, or a pay cable net, or a streaming service, or whatever) are in it to make money, but some of the medical and medical-adjacent spots run so often that I want to change the channel when they air.

And ads that motivate viewers to change the channel doesn't seem like a positive for the nets.

When I was watching Frindly TV I watched Catchy Comedy and they had nothing but a commercial block of nothing but health commercials and it shocked me because we are supposed to be seeing commercials for various things not just medicines and illnesses but commercials for food and candy and cars. And when I turned on Frindly TV the first channel I turned to was GSN hoping to see Catch-21 but when I was seeing Deal Or No Deal GSN also had health and illness commercials and health insurance commercials and commercials for hearing aids too which tells me that this has become the decade of health as I have mentioned in my opening post. And Catchy Comedy and GSN seem to get tons of money just showing these commercials in general

TV must be really obsessed with health/illness medicine/fitness club commercials because when I was watching Bingo Blitz on Frindly TV this morning the whole GSN commercial block was all medicine and illness commercials and only one Audi commercial was in the entire mix and why health and illness/medicine commercials are getting airplay on TV rather than commercials for food and cleaning products is because these commercials put out lots of money to promote the health products. And not only have illness/health/medicine commercials become overhyped but commercials advertising diets and weight loss have taken the commercial world by storm. Because also during Bingo Blitz Frindly TV airs commercials for Jenny Craig and diets and as I mentioned the 2020s have truly become the decade of health

Why I think the health and illness commercials make tons of money is they are targeting the senior crowd but also the young generation. Take for instance when I watch Star Trek Discovery on Paramount+ over 100% of their commercials are health and illness related and now they have commercials advertising depression and when I was watching Nickelodeon Guts also on Paramount+ they have commercials for NFL summer camps that promote health and fitness. I have never seen so much health fitness and illness commercials shown on TV this year and like I mentioned in my opening post in this thread the 2020's have truly become the decade of health
