I think when they made Halloween 3 (without Michael Myers), that is when the series jumped the shark. The remaining movies were horrible save for Halloween H20. I haven't seen Halloween Resurrection, so I don't know if it got back on track.
Same thing with the "Nightmare on Elm Street" movies. The first three were good but after the fourth one, that is when it jumped the shark. It didn't help that it was further fanned by the fifth in the series. By the time "Wes Craven's New Nightmare" came out, it had lost its touch. The "Police Academy" movies were even worse. The first one was fine but when the second one in the series was released, it jumped. A few of them were directed by Jerry Paris, who was perhaps most famous for playing Jerry the dentist on TV's "The Dick Van Dyke Show." Too bad it didn't work out. A total of six Police Academy films were made, but the first one was the best (and not so poorly rated) The "Friday the 13th" movies managed to avoid this fate...for a few movies, anyway. In the fourth of the series, Jason was killed and that was it...or so we thought. A year later, they made another movie with another killer in Jason's stead but that did not work at all. They brought him back in the next movie but the damage was already done. It jumped the shark. What other movie series jumped the shark, in your opinion? |

Arthur 2: On THe Rocks
OMG That was the worst! That didn't Jump the Shark, That leaped the shark, and exploded on impact when it landed, It was a bomb. The fact that they brought back his first butler as a ghost. That's just cheesy, Man. I did manage to find an amusing scene in this movie. The one in the shelter where Arthur and dead Hobson are talking and the guy in one of the top bunks tells them to shut up. Arthur: Do you mind, i'm trying to have a conversation with my butler who died last year. Shelter guy: Oh yeah well i'm playing blackjack with Uncle Rudy who died in 1957, but at least he's considerate enough to keep his voice down. Hit me again Rudy. |

The Batman movies just got worse and worse.
The James Bond movies "jumped" when Timothy Dalton took over the role of 007. |
