My main house heater is an antique that makes alot of noise when operating, so I decided to buy a space heater to take some load of furnace and also cut down on noise. Fan based space heaters tend to be noisy and they also to burn oxygen and dehumidify the air. So they were out of consideration.
I settle for a fan-less Quartz radiant heater. They radiate heat like the Sun and warm up the objects (including human body) in its radiant path rather than air around it. So the room might be freezing cold, but you are warm and cozy. And they don't burn oxygen or dehumidify the air. Plus it was on sale ![]() https://www.walmart.com/ip/Pelonis-1...hite/694409248 |

Yes. I have Honeywell floor heater. Our house is cold in some rooms and the space heater does come in handy.

I work at Home. A Space Heater and Electric Blanket have saved me a fortune over the years.
I only turn on the Furnace when it is so cold the pipes could freeze. Just heat the room I am in. |

In my 85 yrs of life I've never owned one...Living in the East for first 27 yrs of life, it was furnace when necessary and utilities were at least half of what they are today.
If I turn on my wall heater in So Cal when it turns cold, bill skyrockets, like it has been this mroning, I wear a fleece jacket all day, saves me. I'm thinking of buying those fingers out gloves as my hands are cold, but they warm up, run some hot water over them helps. I'm home all the time, but this is So Cal too and very all round comfortable weather. And an electric blanket, never got one, something about sleeping with this big electric cover on me just does not set right for me. I have owned some heating pads and sleep with them on small areas of my body...they work good. Plus I invested in a Sleep No bed about a decade ago and I swear my sleep climate is so improved on that mattress (air)... love this bed. |

This is uncanny, a little while ago a Sleep No ad appeared in my inbox talking about sleeping cool and warmer on a Sleep No. I'm not posting it as it's an ad and if anyone is interested in Sleep No, you can find mega info on line.

I don't use any space heaters.
Make note even though space heaters are generally safe, space heaters can be a fire hazard if you don't use them correctly, so use a Space Heater Safely Here are eight tips to keep you safe: 1. Use it on a solid surface that's level and out of the way of foot traffic. 2. Plug in the cord directly to the outlet instead of using an extension cord. 3. To prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, choose a vented space heater if it's fueled by gas. 4. Have a carbon monoxide detector in your home if you use a fuel-powered heater or other appliances that use combustion. 5. Find a model with automatic shut-off features in case of overheating or tipping. 6. Check the unit and electrical cord regularly to look for signs of damage. 7. Avoid using space heaters in bathrooms or other areas with water to reduce the risk of shocks. 8. Always unplug the space heater when you're done using it. |

Not if I don't want my electricity knocked out from a tripped breaker, I live in a 3 room apartment and when had one in my bedroom and it knocked out the electricity in the bedroom and bathroom. It sucks because they feel so good but pull so much energy

I have used electric blankets few times and it seem to be hit and miss with me. They are very useful on real cold nights but tend to make one sweat if it get too warm. And cheaper ones tend to create hotspots and not wash friendly.
Most space heater are rated at 1500 watts which mean they can draw over 10 amps. And if circuit breaker is rated at 15 amp, any thing else (like light, TV or computer) that is plugged into same circuit will probably pop the fuse. The best solution is to use heater's lower wattage setting, or turn off any other electric devices that are plugged into same circuit. |

Anything with a heat coil--most space heaters, toaster, dryer, iron--draws a lot of power. It's best to put them on a little-used circuit, because, yes, they can trip a breaker.
