Animated Classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Coming to Disney+ in 4K Restoration

Disney’s unrivaled 1937 animation classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is coming to Disney+ in a 4K restoration, debuting Oct. 16 and completed to commemorate The Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary.

“The opportunity to help restore Snow White was both an honor and a challenge,” said Disney Animation animator/director Eric Goldberg, adding that he and Disney Animation artist Mike Giaimo (Wish, Frozen, Frozen 2) “felt we owed a debt to history to get it looking as beautiful and as accurate to the original colors as we could.”

“The muted palette and the delicate watercolor backgrounds evoke the illustrated fairy tales that Walt so loved,” said Goldberg, head of hand-drawn animation for Disney Animation’s newest short Once Upon A Studio and director of Pocahontas and Fantasia/2000, “and the story and characters continue to resonate to this day.”

The restoration was undertaken by the Walt Disney Studios Restoration and Preservation team, working closely with key artists from Walt Disney Animation Studios, the same teams that recently worked together on the critically-acclaimed restoration of Walt Disney’s 1950 animated classic Cinderella.

Back when it made it's debut in 1937 Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs was truly a treasured masterpiece and continues to be the greatest animated film of all time and is considered the grandmama of all animated movies. With the new 4K restoration Disney+ is able to present Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs in the format it was meant to be in. Because when you look at the other Disney movies like Cinderella and 101 Dalmatians it's hard to make those movies in a better format. However if you own the original 1993 VHS version of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs and the 2001 DVD release you can compare the way the picture is done but if you buy the new version you can see the difference. I think this is how Disney+ is planning to do all their new releases and they'll most likely do the same to Wish when it debuts on Disney+
