Just when I heard too much horrid stuff I hear more,,,

And then I saw today when I was out front my apt bldg, a moving truck removing an apt full of stuff which I'm now hearing the front apt tenant has left the apt and has paid no rent for months.

These are just 2 of post covid disasters... I can only imagine how many more plus the already homeless mess.

Those of you who reside in quiet and small states and towns, don't have any of this stuff
going on.

I never understood the squatter thing. Someone does not have the legal right to reside in a property or domicile without the permission of the owner. I do know that in a public place like a store if the store closes and I refuse to leave at closing time, the owner can call the police and have me removed.

Why can’t they do that in this situation? For me a “squatter” is a trespasser who has no right to be in a place. Can’t the police just get rid of the unwanted person?

I have heard and read various stories like this and don’t understand it. The so called “squatter” does not have permission of the owner of the property to be there and so they are trespassing. To me it is no different than a business closing but a customer refuses to leave. They call the police, and the police does a lawful removal.

Same here. Seems the owner of the property can go to the police, show them the title of the property to show it is theirs, and then getting the “squatter” out. It also seems in our more conservative states, an owner can just bust in with a shotgun and tell the “squatter” he has five minutes to grab his crap and go. But the “squatter” themselves might be armed so take that advice for what it is.
