Default Things I used to hate hearing from adults when I was a kid

I always hated it when an adult wouldn't even entertain a hypothetical situation I was curious about.... I always had the question, "If a red bird mated with a blue bird would they produce a purple bird?" I asked this to a teacher and she was like, "They wouldn't ever mate" and when I would say, "But just WHAT IF...." and she cut me off and was like, "They WOULDN'T!"

Or when I would ask an adult WHY I had to do something and they would respond, "Cuz I SAID so!" What a cop out answer!

Anyone else relate or have others?

I was born with a mind of my own so I don't remember caring what others thought.

I mean you have have a "mind of your own" but still get annoyed when you're curious about something and someone gives you an bs answer when you have a hypothetical

I absolutely hated at the end of summer when grown ups would say " Are you happy to be going back to school" ?

Uh yeah, getting up early , sitting at a desk all day , nuns and teachers being mean, having to do homework!

Yeah , that is much better than getting up whenever you want to, going to bed later, playing, swimming, getting icecream, waiting for the Good Humor truck to come ! ( sarcasm)

Duh! I always thought what a stupid question !

I didn't hate it, but I guess it bothered me. Mom would say "wait till your father gets home"..
My father didn't spare the belt with his oldest child: Me..

His son was a favorite and got a lot of dad's attention and my sister the 3rd child was dad's final favorite... no belts no rods -- none of those...

I also despised hearing, "You'll grow out of this!", or "As you get older you'll find those things won't mean as much to you any more" That is so dismissive and invalidating to whatever thing I was experiencing

other things that went on in my life was parents and grandparents would speak in their european tongues when they didn't want us to know what they were saying.

I can remember my grandparents loved this phrase. Must have been popular with the 1800s set.

Oh, sure, I got annoyed but I didn't really care what they thought I should do. I rolled my eyes a lot.

Edmund said that in The Beniker gang! (1984)

Well he said "Whoever said Children should be seen and not heard should not have been heard themselves" (He was reading Lola's column)
