In the ep when Giligan meets the jungle boy (played by Kurt Russell) you can see the strings holding up Gilligan's hat when he puts his hat over the little volcanoe full of helium (isn't it?).

Also you can see the strings that pull the boat apart in the episode where that glue makes the boat fall apart...

lol yeah....and you can see the wires holding him up when he "floats" up into the balloon. special effects weren't very good in the 60s, you know.
