That is an interesting article on Doris Roberts. I never realized that was a problem.

As Frank might say:
What crap. First of all, writers can write whatever they want, just look at the junk that is out there. Do I go to a Senate commision to testify as to the deplorable teen movies or the ridculous girly flicks out there, or the way men are portrayed as jackasses on TV shows? Like it or not it's called freedom of speech. Second of all, politicans know what a force the elderly are, they know their demographics and who votes. Guess who is making the laws. Doris Roberts should just shut up and be happy she is a rich actress. Do common citizens get to object in front of a special committe as to the way they are portayed? |

I don't think she's mad about the way older people are portrayed as much as older people not getting jobs for being old. And if you're so unhappy with the way men are portrayed on television than do something about it and don't tell other people to shut up because they choose not to be lazy. |

I'm not unhappy about it, I was making a point.
People have a right to write whatever they want. You can't demand people make their work tailored to what you like. And as far as hiring and roles go, last time I checked you were free to create any script you want and hire whatever actress or actor you want. And as far as making a complaint, the Senate isn't lining up to hear you talk. |

OK, the shut up part was uncalled for, I can agree with that.
Everybody has their own opinion and voice, I just feel like she can't tell people how to write their scripts and roles. |

A good solution is for some writers to start writing for older ladies. The Golden Girls was a pretty good show. Ann Margret and Sophia Loren had good roles in the movies with Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. They're going to have to start catering to the older generation because the Baby Boomers have to relate to what they're seeing on TV.

Advertisers target younger people to get them to buy their products. They feel older people are set in their ways and won't change their mind on trying new products. This is why there isn't any older people shows on network TV.

Well if that's the case they have alot of CLOSED MINDED people working on the Networks. Older people buy new products all the time. That's just a myth. Anyway......... I agree with Doris Roberts.
