I recently listened to a podcast about this two partner

Made me think.. in the Happy Days Universe are we supposed to believe that Richie and his family haven't seen each other in years?? Rich never came home to visit off camera?? FONZ and Rich haven't seen each other?? or Ralph for that matter?? Any of you have an opinion on this?? Or did Rich and Ralph just go in the army and not come home for three years??

Well, granted trying to make sense of the HD timeline can make your head hurt, but it actually may only be one year. Bear with me: Joanie was a senior in S7. But then she was also a senior in S8 and S9. (The writers realllly didn't want to let go of Jefferson High, apparently.) Only in S10 are she and Chachi revealed to have graduated high school. (Jenny was still a senior, but at least they explained that as her having been left back.) So it's possible that only one year passed between Richie and Ralph joining the Army and them returning?
