Default "Monty" Stymie Beard on Good Times

Don't know if this thread has already been posted, sorry if it has. FYI Stymie Beard was always mistaken as having played the part of "Buckwheat" in the "Little Rascals / Our Gang" series'. He in fact played Hercules/Stymie. He had 13 brothers and sisters. As an adult he fell onto hard times when he became addicted to heroin. He eventually cleaned up and again was acting in small parts such as Good Times, Sanford and Son, etc.

So I just showed them that finger, like in my Stewie avatar!!! LOL For real though, he still looks the same in that pic like he did as an adult, I mean his features remained pretty much the same. I know he died in the 80's, I believe.

Stymie's real name was Matthew Beard, Jr.... (1925-1981)
I have an Our Gang book with a couple of pictures of grown-up Stymie (one pic is from 1975,and he's posing with grown-up George 'Spanky' MacFarland. Now that I see that pic, I recognize him as having appeared on a number of shows... but I never realized that it was him...I'll see if I can hook up my scanner and post the picture here.

It was William Thomas, Jr. ("Billie" Thomas) (1931-1980) who played Buckwheat.

Allen Clayton Hoskins Jr. (1920-1980) played "Farina".

All of the black kids who had regular parts in the "Our Gang" films died within about a year of each other, with the exception of Ernie "Sunshine Sammy" Morrison (1912-1989)

Default Stymie on Good Times

I'd always heard that Stymie from the Our Gang (Little Rascals) series appeared on Good Times, but last night I finally saw him for myself in the episode of James' funeral. It's amazing how he could look almost exactly the same as a little boy and an older man.

I started a thread a couple of weeks ago about this same topic. There's a picture of him on one of the posts. Check it out.
