Was the nickname "Tootie" ever explained on the Facts of Life? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Does anyone know if the character "Tootie ever explained on any episode why her nickname was tootie? I know her real name on the show was Dorothy but i don't think she was ever called dorothy but none of the girls or Mrs. Garret.

I don't remember which ep it was but Tootie said or she tryied to explain why she is called Tootie but she didn't tell the whole story because the person she was telling was getting annoyed her's what she said, that she didn't like the name dorothy and so since dorothy had to o's in it that's why or that's as far as she go. But in the ep Summer of 84 she wanted the girls and Mrs G to call her Dorothy but that didn't work out but in the reunion show she made sure they called her Dorothy.

Well whatever episode that is-It's going to take a long time for me to see because Facts of Life is only being shown on the Hallmark channel. Thanks for the response.

In the Interview Show she says, "Somebody got the impression that I talked too much and they stuck me with Tootie, and now no matter what I do I can't shake it!" lol...yea...

Ahh..I dont remember that, but it kinda makes since, right?? lol Maybe....

I dont remember anything about her saying anything about it, so I cant contribute much to this...

The woman who was interviewing went to Eastland, and she asked Tootie why everyone called her that.
