On “Beauty and the Beast,” we occasionally see Vincent going to rescue Catherine by jumping on the top of a speeding New York City subway car to rush to Catherine’s aid. It does look very dramatic to see Vincent clinging to the subway car with his full and lustrous mane of hair blowing in the wind.
However, there has been an on-going problem in NYC with young kids (mostly teenaged boys) climbing on top of subway cars and filming themselves as the subway rushes along at speeds that can approach 50-miles-an-hour. The teenagers then post these disturbing videos on the internet. Tragically, five young men have been killed so far after falling while filming themselves on speeding subway cars. NYC Mayor Eric Adams and officials from the Manhattan Transit Authority have urged young men NOT to attempt this dangerous and, occasionally, fatal stunt. I wonder if the creators and writers (like George R.R. Martin) of B&TB ever regret having had actor Ron Perlman as a Vincent, riding on the top of NYC subway cars considering how dangerous it is for young people to attempt this foolish and reckless stunt? |
