Default Miss Michael Learned as a "Curly Girl": Corabeth Perms Olivia's Hair...!

For fans of Miss Michael Learned, the bedtime scenes of Olivia
Walton brushing her beautiful long hair are among her most
compelling.

In a Season 5 episode, the unthinkable takes place when
Olivia decides to have her hair permed. Let's take a look at
the process and the result:

The producers likely sought to place an unflattering wig on Miss
Learned for purposes of the story. If so, I think they succeeded.
It's too "poufy" on top and too short in front (and looks like a wig!).
In reality, a curly hairstyle with long curly bangs and some stray
tendrils could have looked attractive.

If Olivia's hair was not cut by Corabeth, she could simply pull its
long length back and it would've still looked fine. There are
endless lovely ways to wear long hair, regardless of curly or
straight texture, and with Miss Learned's pretty face she could
hardly go wrong.

That episode was funny ! The families reaction to it ! Poor Olivia ! And only in TV could a perm be completly out . She was back to her normal hair the next week. Perms take forever to grow out, even if you cut your hair to get the perm out , it doesn't come out completly .

And in those days, that horrible machine tou had to be hooked up too! WOW! I can only imagine how damaging that was to the hair! But lots of women did that back than !

Here's an example of Miss Learned wearing her hair in a curled "above-the-
shoulders" style. Much more attractive than what we saw as the supposed
result of the perm Corabeth gave Olivia. Looking very glamorous...! When she
looked her best, she was quite hot!

Can you blame her art instructor for hitting on Olivia? The man had an
eye for a pretty lady!
