Default Did Anni-Frid Langstad have a solo career after ABBA?

When I was listening to music I found my copy of Donna Summer's I'm A Rainbow and in the album was a beautiful ballad named To Turn The Stone which Donna Summer sang originally but it became a worldwide smash when Anni-Frid Langstad covered it on her first solo album and it makes me wonder if Anni-Frid Langstad went on to have a solo career after ABBA split up in 1982 and used her nickname Frida. I never knew why Anni-Frid "Frida" went solo after ABBA. I do know she released another single called I Know There's Something Going On and Frida's voice is just awesome on the song

She wanted to distance herself from the ABBA sound. She worked with Phil Collins and they both hit it off as both of them were the injured party of their respective divorces.

I was surprised at Anni-Frid "Frida's" solo work and she really did have an awesome sound in her music. It was indeed the song To Turn The Stone that introduced me to Frida's solo career and her version of To Turn The Stone is superb than Donna Summer's original version. Did Anni-Frid also record other solo albums in Swedish and English too? Because I did hear recently that she released a greatest hits album in Sweden and the same album in English and she wrote her autobiography that became a bestseller in Sweden

Cool

Frida released 'Something's Going On' in 1982, with the title single featuring Phil Collins on drums.

Does that album also have the song To Turn The Stone as well? I never knew that Phil Collins played the drums on Frida's I Know There's Something Going On so that's an interesting fact to know. I have been an ABBA fan since my mom got a copy of ABBA Gold and I might have to check out Frida's solo albums sometime

I'm not an expert on ABBA or music in general. ABBA has never formally disbanded or broken up, but all four of them went on an agreed sabbatical to pursue solo projects/interests. Their music all though well liked was starting to wane in the 1980s. From what I've read Anni was a hot commodity to the point when she collaborated with Collins and they received over 500 submissions/songs for her to record (that's where the Giorgio Moroder song came from).

While the songs charted okay in countries like Germany and Netherlands, it failed to do anything in the UK (Great Britain). I'm not sure if the UK was their intended audience, but I think it factored into why future albums were not worked on and or released. I think she reunited with ABBA for future songs and performances. Of course, Collins career continued to take off into the late 1980s. Maybe, he wanted to continue to collaborate with Frida but he was too busy with his own work/projects.

I discovered that the Frida song To Turn The Stone is actually from Frida's debut album and I showed my mom the song and she liked it as well. I actually compared Donna Summer's version and Frida's version and my mom liked both versions but she loves Donna Summer's version of To Turn The Stone the best. I also found a second album by Frida that was released in 1984 and the songs on that album are really amazing as well

It’s safe to say that Frida was one of the most underrated solo artists from the 1980s
