Default In “Night of the Ropers”……

……what did Stanley mean when he said that “Helen had no friends?” What about Ann and Jenny. Not talking to her sister makes sense, but Ann and Jenny loved Helen.

Maybe for plot conveniences, and there might the matter that a large number of viewers never caught an episode of The Roper's

True, but Stanley specifically mentioned Helen’s sister whom those same viewers wouldn’t know, either.

When The Ropers added Jenny, I feel the show was getting better. It's too bad it was cancelled soon after.

I always wondered why they didn't return it to their old time slot after Three's Company. The ratings were good then.

The Brookes’ really brought the show down. Tambor is so unfunny it’s pathetic.

The strange thing is Jeffery Tambor was funny on Three's Company in all 3 of his guest appearances, but he was the worst on The Ropers.

You're right, the Brookes character really brought the show down.

I agree Jenny improved the show. She should have been introduced in season 1. It was a stupid the way she was introduced. She breaks into their house and was sleeping there for weeks before they noticed

It was silly how they introduced Jenny.

She was the only other good character on the show. I didn't like Brookes, his wife, or his kid.

I always liked it when a spinoff followed the parent series in primetime airings. Too many shows were killed by networks separating them.
