Sad 9/11...

Where were you on that day? What was going through your head?

I was working for a radio show in New York (WNEW) doing interviews for fashion week. I was downtown at the time when the attacks first happened. I never experienced fear like I did on that day. It was like something out of a movie. Sadly, my cousin Laura passed away on that day in the towers. I apologize if I bring back awful memories, butI feel I need to talk about it as a way of dealing with my personal grief.

I'm sorry about your cousin. It must have been doubly hard on you and your family than it was on some of us who didnt lose any family members.

I was at school, and in choir, and my best friend comes running in, saying that someone flew planes into the WTC buildings. I was thinking, "What are they?" I didnt know. Then I went to History, and saw that it said "Breaking News" on the TV and I, being the smart mouth I am, say, "OOOH, what's the 'breaking news' today?" and they told me. I felt sooo awful.

That was a while ago but I'm glad you brought it back because its almost the anniversary, and I really hope those damn terrorists don't plan another attack. It was just my usual morning I was getting ready for school and my mom told me that a plane crashed into one of the twin towers and then right when I was about to go we heard another plane crashed into the second one, we knew it was an attack so my mom didn't make me go to school that day because we had no idea what they were doing and next we heard about the pentagon! That's pure evil, each and everyone of them will burn in hell for eternity to what they did to our country and our people. I'm really sorry about your cousin.

I'm very sorry about your cousin-

I was just in social studies working on questions when we heard it on the radio

I was in my computer class, just finishing some work, when my professor's cell phone rang. I overheard her say that the WTC was destroyed and the Pentagon had been hit. I quickly went to cnn.com and couldn't believe what I was seeing. I went home not long after that...

I'm sorry to hear about your cousin. One of my old high school classmates was also killed. She was on one of the planes.

I was getting ready for class when I heard on the radio that a plane had hit the WTC. I turned on the TV when the 2nd plane hit. I will never forget that image.

I was in PE class and I didn't hear about the attacks until my 2nd hour, when I was in English class. It was like 9:30 my time when I found out. We were out on teh track during PE when it happened.

I'm sorry about your cousin. This is a good topic to bring up btw. We can share our pain and memories through here instead of seeing the news on the anniversary. I get a bad feeling they will show the towers collapsing every second. I don't want to relive it again that way, but it doesn't seem as bad sharing memories on the board.

I was in Senior English when I first found out. I can't really remember what we were doing at the time. I want to say the teacher had just finished taking roll. I sat right by the door and the tv set. This other teacher comes into the room, and at first I wasn't too worried. You know how teachers go into other rooms to talk for a bit. The other teacher leaves the room, but my teacher turns the tv set on. We see whats going on and it just scared the hell out of me. I think I was in a daze for the rest of the class period.

I go to my next class and we did basically the same thing we did in first period. My Writer's Workshop teacher had a tv in the room, but it didn't pick up CNN. We went to a class next door so we could watch the news. I think 2nd period was when the Pentagon was struck. The room was so quiet during that time. If someone had dropped a sewing pin on the floor, we could've heard it.

Third period was a little bit different. I had Snr. Home Ec. We had to do some work in the textbook, but the teacher allowed us to watch the tv with the sound off. Needless to say, I don't think anybody had their mind on doing the work in the text book. My next class we didn't even watch the news. I think we just did work the whole period.

The next day I stayed home from school. It just didn't seem right to go through the motions when you have something like the attacks happening. It didn't seem right to go talk to friends and goof around when something this tragic happened.

I still can't forget the feeling I had the weekend before the attacks. I was sitting in the living room and this feeling of dread came into the room. It just felt so odd. I started praying that nobody in my family would die, because I must say I hardly ever get those dread feelings. It felt odd the day of the attacks when I'm sitting in class listening to the news reports, and still remembering that dread feeling from the weekend. It was just so odd. It was an unforgettable experience.

I was at work. My friend got a call from her mom who told her about it and then when my friend got off the phone she told me about it. There were some crazy rumors going around work that day about how many people had died. As soon as I got home from work I turned on the television and people were talking about it on almost every channel.

I'm so sorry about Laura. I remember that day...I didn't know about what happened till I went to school and I saw my friend Cami and she goes, "Did you hear there might be a World War III?" and I was like What... I just figured she was joking but then I went to science and my teacher had the radio on..That's when I found out about the towers. I didn't know anyone who got killed so I don't exactly know the pain others of you went through, but gosh it was terrible.

I'm sorry about all your guys' friends and family that passed away on that dreadful day.

I was in California when it happened...I was woken up by my mom and a friend of hers going, "Omigod!".. I went into the living room just in time to see the second tower get hit. I remember thinking it wasn't real... Then they just continued to play the footage over and over again. Finally it sank in and then the word 'terrorists' came up and that's when it really got freaky. I mean, I should have figured- two planes don't go into buildings for the hell out it one after another, but I must have not been thinking along those lines...

So we got dressed and went over to my mom's other friend's place to watch her dogs, but come to find out they were both home. They work for the government and all the government employees had been sent home if they were already at work or told not to come in because they were taking extra precautions. That's also when we heard about other planes that weren't answering requests to land- and they were coming toward California... People figured if they were terrorists they were heading either for Los Angeles or San Francisco, but thankfully.... It was all a false alarm. The freaky thing is... I live about three blocks from a "Starbucks" that the FBI swormed after the fact because... come to find out... This specific "Starbucks" had been a meeting place for the suicide pilots, that flew the planes, the last three or four months before the attack.... Comforting- huh? ...... Everything effects people in ways, and this is definitely something I won't forget. On the 12th of September I wrote a page about my feelings... It helped.
