My favorite moment on Charles in Charge is the last Pembroke episode where Charles says bye to all the Pembrokes and picks up Jason and hugs him. That is the sweetest thing in the world. I mean, how many 19 year old guys would pick up and hug a 10 year old? That is just the cutest thing you will ever see!

For the Powell episodes, Jamie joins a cult or something, and then at the end of the show Charles tells Jamie if she wants to believe in something, try God, not a cult. I think that's awesome. It's my favorite part of the whole Charles in Charge.

That was a GREAT CIC moment, Jill! That whole cult episode was pretty darn weird, however. I don't know what the writers were thinking!

I'd have to say that my favorite "touching" CIC moment would come from "The Wrong Guy"--an episode from the CBS show. In this episode, Lila wants to date a boy whom her parents strongly disapprove of, but decide to let her go out with him when she proposes a "double date" scenario involving a couple of friends. Later in the show, the other couple ends up breaking their half of the date. When Charles finds out about this, he makes Lila promise to tell her parents that the double date has been cancelled before he leaves with Buddy to attend a party. As Buddy is rushing him out the door, Charles permits Lila to go after she sort of half-heartedly agrees to tell her parents instead of sneaking out. After Charles leaves, Lila mischievously says, “But you’re only young once.” As you can probably guess, Lila doesn’t tell her parents and goes out with the guy anyway. When Charles returns from the party, Lila is still out on her date, and a very worried Stan & Jill let him have it for allowing Lila to go without telling them about the change of plans. Charles tries to defend himself saying that his decision was justified because it was based on trust. However, Lila broke that trust, and when she finally comes home, Charles goes to his room and slams the door behind him. My favorite scene is when Lila goes to talk to Charles after her parents giver her a punishment. The classic lines from this scene are:

Charles: You hurt, in one night, what it took all the time we’ve known each other to build up.

Lila: My parents punished me for 3 weeks. How long are you going to punish me?

Charles: Lila, your parents did not want to punish you. The first thing they did when you walked in the door was hug you. That’s what they wanted to do. That’s what I want to do. I don’t want to feel like this! I hate this! But it’s going to take some time.

Lila: Charles?

Charles: Lila?

Lila: Can I hug you?

Charles: Please?

The syndicated show should have had scenes like this one.

As far as funny moments go, that will take some thinking! I always loved the little insults Jamie threw at Adam, like “Shut up, you little dipstick!” Charles and Buddy did so many hilarious things together, I don’t know if I can choose a favorite! I’ll get back to you though. ;-)
