Post Lost show

I was just remembering that I heard once that thier is a missing Charles in Charge show from the 1st season. TV shows list thier shows by a production code, that is a set of numbers telling in what order the show is made. Sometimes a network will air a show out of the order in which they were taped but you look at that code to tell you when each was made. According to the Musuem of Televisons Arts and Sciences which catalogs these codes there is one more episode made for Charles in Charge that was made and never aired on CBS, probably because the show was shown out of order and went into re runs right after it was cancelled in May of 85. When the syndicated rights were sold the episode was not included becuase it was never broadcast. If you look at the offical Episode guide there are question marks that come right between the spring break show where Charles goes to Florida and the next one, maybe becuase whoever made the guide was confused. Anyway, if there was a missing show out there, particually a Pembroke one I would love to see it.

Here is another thought. The show in question might have never aired because it was pre empted by something big that night like a major news story or something. I know it would have been late spring of 85 so I will check back through the microfilm and find the newspapers for April and May of 85 and look at the TV listings and see if maybe a show was scheduled that does not match the episode guide. A premption by CBS would explain why one more show is listed on the Production code then the show guide.

I doubt very much if there's any 'lost' show. They made 22 episodes the 1st season I think which was the typical number back then. If they did make this extra 23rd episode, I'm sure it would have been put in as part of the syndication package.

I think typically unaired episodes do show up as part of a syndication package.. look at some of the short run shows being broadcast on the USA Network..

Another possible alternative is the story was written and copyrighted, but never filmed.

There's no such episode listed called 'Return of the Mac' (or whatever is listed in the original episode guide that was put together) at the locis.loc.gov telnet site which is used by many to put episode guides together..

Where is Al Burton when you need him?? Al, a little help here!

Thanks TJ!! I think you are right, and I hope you are. I would much rather think that the show does not exist than it does and is just "out there"
